It depends on the jurisdiction and while I can completely see where OP is coming from, his actions are not righteous, they are illegal.

I guess the final result would be dependent on the total damages, and in my admittedly amateur opinion the judge would factor in the OPs malicious intent.

Maybe not theft but he would definitely get some sort of criminal charge for destruction of property.

It depends on the jurisdiction and the car is blocking his driveway not the entire street. An ambulance will make it to his house just fine; it doesn’t have to actually stop in his driveway.

Completely agree with you and I do understand where he was coming from. If you look at one of my other responses I had something similar happen and I was late to classes but I would much rather wait than possibly face criminal charges.
