I shit you not, I had to tell my Jeep sales guy how to open the hood.

I take it LR never got back to you?
Have Jeep. Disagree with title.
Well this certainly took the wind out of my sails a bit regarding the new Defender. I’m especially surprised at the fabric underside, considering this is what they show on the website under “Durability”, where they talk about the chassis:
Holy SHIT that is incredibly impressive.
I honestly don’t get the hate. I drive a 4 door. I wanted to explore and adventure with my vehicle, but I couldn’t afford two vehicles. A two door simply didn’t make sense. It can’t fit anything in it. Mine’s lifted on 35s and will go practically anywhere I’d ever want to take a vehicle. Could a lifted two door go…
These things are stupidly expensive for what you get. So are most of the “high end” SUVs.
Apples/Oranges
Wow. I was looking at 392 Chargers as cheap competition to a C43 AMG in my mental “vehicles to buy that I probably never will, but fuck reality” list.
So, I found it online... it gets worse. Dual exhaust outlet right behind the side steps (like the AMG G Wagons). Same low bumper bar... thing... on the rear. Everything inside is carbon fiber and looks hideous. Oh, and want to guess which snorkel is fake? Both. I shit you not.
Its more of a purely stylistic throwback to old school recovery ropes being wrapped around bumpers during tough trails. Specifically, you’d see it all the time during the Camel Trophy.
That thing is an abomination.
A lot of people don’t seem to understand overlanding, and only see the most toxic aspects of the #overland culture. That’s not what it’s all about. Instagram overlanders represent the reality of overlanding about as much as #vanlife represents the reality of living in an undersized and underequipped vehicle 24/7.
Up here in Ontario, Canada, this thing is a unicorn. They simply don’t exist in this state of repair for anything shy of $5k.
I regularly attend the “Vermont Overland Rally”, which is basically a large group of off roaders and “overlanders” exploring all of the class 4 roads that Vermont has to offer. They are many, and extremely varied in both difficulty and terrain. During my last attendance, I decided to hit one last trail on my way out…
Broken Jeep? - Guy is probably an asshole who caused the failure through poorly designed and installed modifications.
Alternating between “Yay!” and “Yikes!”
Too many gladiator photots, not enough wagoneer photos. How’s the interior? Floors? Frame? Need info!
