Does the simulated low range and dinky engine fail in steeper hill climbs like with the renegade?
Does the simulated low range and dinky engine fail in steeper hill climbs like with the renegade?
When I was shopping in 2012 there was a single stand out reason: I wanted the best factory off road vehicle available. I looked at the Tacoma, the 4Runner, the FJ Cruiser (ugh), and the X-Terra. I wanted 35" tires with minimal after market parts or work involved. Solid front and rear axles, with factory lockers…
I only have two questions:
I’m inclined not to agree, Andrew. I am not concerned with resale, and I went with the Rubicon. If this edition was available, I would have gone with this. I do not regret it in the slightest. I’d be happy to talk more about it.
So much wrong in one post...
I will withhold judgement until the vehicle is released, and is out on the trails.
It’s a fun vehicle, just not what I was hoping for. It seems to be more of a mini-raptor than the slow speed hauler I wanted. My point with the step is that the rear bumper is going to get damaged either way during any moderately difficult off roading, so why not leave the step in? Glad to hear the bed mounted…
I drove one of these for 28 days while my four door Rubicon was in the shop, waiting for a new power steering pump after I blew mine up being stuck in gumbo up to the doors. Driver error.
Ugh... cheap aftermarket crap tacked on with no regard for style or substance, no winch in the front winch bumper, and all of that could have been forgiven, BUT the rear axle isn’t even driven...
I’m not sure how any self respecting car guy could not find this very cool. Guy has car dream. Guy achieves car dream. Results are perfect for his dream.
It allows the door to support the weight of a full size spare tire, even when open. I’m willing to bet that this is the reason, as if you look at images of the vehicle from across the pond:
So close, GM... so close. I was pretty excited for this truck, and I’m still happy it exists at all, but it didn’t quite tick all the boxes for me.
Was not expecting this 3rd in line one star comment to send my beverage aspew. Well done. Speed, surprise, and violence of action.
The lack of a compass in the original Jeep Compass annoyed me way more than it should have. Hopefully they remedied that.
Holy shit, the conversation here about the spare location makes me terrified for the future of the Wrangler... thank god there’s a manufacturer that still makes a vehicle for those of us that actually off road.
I don’t get it... isn’t this the perfect application for remote reservoir shocks? It seems weird not to have them on this truck, even when you take into account that most won’t see much more than a gravel road.
Expensive, but to be fair... I actually think that looks amazing.
This is GM. The ZR2 will end up being a regular Colorado, with slightly wider paint matched fenders, one size up ATs, and some horrid bed mounted light bar.
You are an idiot.
My feelings exactly.
