Do you mean RB26DETT?
The downhill helps, but this is obviously not a 6 cylinder in the AE86. On the point of the R34 (as much as I like an R33; especially the homologation Le Mans version) see picture in link.
I've driven laggy turbos with poor powerbands; I don't mind the challenge of heel and toe at all. This one makes around 200hp; a good bit more from stock but who said I wouldn't modify it a bit ;)
A Toyota Corolla AE86 Levin (I prefer to the trueno).
Y U WRONG WHEEL DRIVE!
Even though the correct reasons for shutting down Group B were listed by you, I don't think it's right to take away the blame from the cars as well. Coupled with the light weight rather than strength emphasis on building the cars, I recall a documentry highlighting the no limit on boost pressure easily turned small…
Lovely to know that I just posted it, scrolled down, and saw someone else did the same. They've been importing these like wildfire to be used as army and police vehicles in my country. Never have I been so jealous a police car.
This is relevant to the Caribbean; if it rains in the night things are like x1000 worse.
+1.
"I'd step over several orphans and / or nuns to get my hands on an Evolution V here in the states. I think it's one of the most aggressive-looking and storied of the clan."
Well, a trip to Trinidad's Port of Spain licensing office (our name for DMV) by me usually means taking a full day off from work/school and most recently I had to go for a renewal of my license. The process is simple but tiring: this is average by the way.
