I didn't realize the obligation to keep military secrets secret ended when you left the military. Not to mention their code not to seek recognition for their actions. But hey, thanks for his service, and if he wants to live the rest of his life looking over his shoulder, that's his issue.

I'd suggest he talk to the Chicago Bears next, but he doesn't seem like the guy to deliver the message that they need to stop talking and just do their jobs.

Only clicked to find out what type of stool. Somehow relieved and disappointed.

Sure they can, Matlock. It's called investigating. They can investigate a crime based on second-hand information, and you are obviously not a lawyer.

It's not defamation if it's true.

You're only giving half of the equation. Paterno informed the Athletic Director (who then informed head of campus police and Spanier) of the allegations...THEN Paterno conspired with those three to see that it never went any further than them so as not to publicly damage the program.

I am not a mob. I am an individual who has formed a pretty reasonable opinion about the very central role that I think Joe Paterno played in this case. It doesnät involved a lot of major leaps in logic.

Oh hey, look! It's the emergence of the "We don't want to blame anything on Joe Paterno, so we'll conveniently establish a narrative that holds that he was too old and senile to have known what was going on and the real blame lies with the faceless administrators that we have no previous emotional attachment to,"

THIS!

I have done far more than glance at headlines on this case. I have looked at every detail. You can hang your hat on uncertainties as a way of protecting all that you hold sacred. Be my guest.

A long term defensive coach, known for coaching up excellent linebackers, and the heir apparent to Joe Paterno is suddenly let go in 1999? I say known pedophile, you say Joe Paterno decided to go in a different direction and never the twain of us shall agree.

I'm not sure why anyone is upset. This seems about right for the New England fanbase.

How many years, or decades, were Sandusky's attacks on children known? You can figure at least back to 1999 but people were likely aware of his proclivities well before then. How many players came to Penn State under the false assumption that they were coming to one of the few truly clean programs in the country? Is

Shouldn't the Eagles' PR staff have some sort of policy against their players following other teams?

"God, what kind of people would disagree with that"

Agreed. I was a bit surprised when they didn't go with it. Mainly for the fact that they used the power and prestige of the football program to cover up such heinous acts. It certainly seemed like the most logical option to me.

God, what kind of people would disagree with that?

And the reason they covered it up is because if it got out it *might* hurt the football program. The death penalty would have sent the message that if you try to cover that stuff up, you will DESTROY the football program, so don't try.

Holy crap that is hilarious!

I nominate this for the Eagles new logo.
