Yikes.

I used to have to commute from the Bay Area to Sacramento and loved the Capitol Corridor. The quiet car in the morning was great for getting work done and being able to have a glass of wine and watch the bay go by on the way home was the perfect way to unwind for 1.5 hours.

I teach in the Bay Area and have lost count of how many blank stares I’ve gotten when I say that I chose my career because I genuinely find it useful and fulfilling. It frightens me how many people seem to think that making money is the only mark of a valuable life.

I saw this story earlier and was so confused. Why can’t they just take those phones away? Because he’s going to get mad? Who the fuck cares if he’s mad—the conversations he’s having are a national security risk and everyone’s just hoping he doesn’t say anything too bad? This is insane.
