@Srynerson: or RISK.
@Srynerson: or RISK.
@vinylrake: well said.
@glucious: That's what drives me crazy. Why go all the trouble to create a highly detailed and living, breathing universe...and then populate it with, like, three guys?
@lightninglouie: Oooh, those damn bureaucrats. They're the worst villains of all.
@Justy: Which is the crux of the argument. Do you make the movie for kids or adults? Even if you had hated it as a kid, would you maybe have later appricated it as an adult and found it one of the best movies ever?
@Neon: No bashing here. Everyone's entitled to their likes and dislikes (I could tell you some of my favorites that would make you cringe...). While I admit ROTJ is not my fave, I did always love the inter-cutted three-battle sequence at the end and thought it one of the most exciting finales in any movie.
@Charlie Jane Anders: Nimoy only came back for Star Trek II because he was going to get killed off, and look what that did for the movie, the franchise and for the character of Spock (magical sci-fi resurrection notwithstanding). I think it would have worked as well for Han, coming full circle from rouge to heroic…
@mumin: Yeah, I notice how Star Wars is never mentioned in the glut of remakes and reboots. You'll only get your hands on that franchise when you can pry it from Lucas' cold dead fingers.
@glucious: I'm with you. Anyone could see the change in ROTJ, both in tone, storytelling and merchandising.
@lightninglouie: Dang. That sounds...awesome. I'm sure any number of ideas were considered at some point. Although I've always loved the idea of Luke bringing back the Jedi's, and it's explored (to varying degrees of success) in the expanded universe novels.
Well, I think this is just sad confirmation of what has been evident to the fans for years. ROTJ was also going to have Kashyyyk (home planet of the wookies) before it was turned into Ewoks, which was clearly a grab for the kiddies.
I'm attacking Central Mexico from Eastern U.S. with 10 troops and a nuclear bomb. Roll to defend.
@Adam-H: Yeah, I know he was in Wolverine, but I refuse to acknoledge that movie, especially it's depiction of DP.
I was afraid of this, but not really surprised. Since we haven't seen any footage yet, I have no idea if RR will be a good Hal, but he seems born to play DP. Playing two high-profile heroes is not doubt difficult, and GL came first, and hey, a guy's gotta pay the bills, right?
@ChampionshipFacial: I think something like this.
@laylowmoe: Nope. Just ask Bender Bending Rodriquez.
Every time I hear the words "self-aware" I hear Arnie's voice.
Brilliant. Now we need one for Zombies.
@RizzRustbolt: Geoff Johns, is that you?
@PatS: I thought that was dark matter.
