It’s not weird, actually: BMI is popular because it’s EASY. Write down your height and weight, done. That’s why researchers use it. No need to draw blood or get your hands on some calipers, just put blanks for weight and height on a questionnaire. Then doctors use it because the studies all show that BMI correlates
