My whole adult life, I’ve watched the Democratic party shift rightward chasing after those mythical “moderate” voters. The right just doubles down and pushes the Overton window rightward every election, and the Democrats are chasing after them, helping pull the Overton window even further rightward.

I can see this, but I also think it’s POSSIBLE that people around him, if he’s impeached, might try a bit harder to keep his ass in check. I also feel like, idk, if he isn’t given any consequences - even just having to deal with the impeachment proceedings - then it’s not even worth having impeachment laws. Like, the

Does that mean the next Democrat to unseat Trump would automatically be awarded one, too?

In a truly functioning Democracy, a ‘Primary’ challenger within one’s own party should at the very least make the incumbent’s policies more visible, and give them a chance to hone those policies based on input from new blood.

The DCCC is characterizing this as a move to protect the Democrats’ majority in the House, but it can also act as a preventative measure against prospective candidates making moves to unseat more moderate Democrats.

The dude got heat stroke building houses and was back out there the next day at 90, he is one tough SOB.

You are also telling everyone “screw you, the best you deserve is who is in office”.

The DCCC don’t realize that this is just a way to encourage third-party spoilers: someone like Bernie who can’t run as a Dem will run as an independent - thus dividing the Dem vote and letting the Republican win.

I get it, nobody but nobody wants to be primaried.

It’s an infuriating and saddening story, especially that the school is a HBC in a town that’s about 30% black and this racist Evropa yokel asshole (and you know it’s not just him in that PD) is somehow in charge of public safety.

Former President Jimmy Carter is officially the longest living U.S. president in history. Please clap for the peanut man.

I think that:

I’ve made this argument, Trump’s evil ineptitude is better than Pence’s more disciplined and focused evil. Since November, Trump has had no agenda, no legislative proposals or accomplishments, and inconsistent policy goals except for government shutdown and border walls. It’s a lame duck presidency two years in.

Thank you. I’m pretty fed up with Democrats spinning wishful fanfic about this report while failing to develop any type of voter engagement strategy (or taking any other widespread measures to avoid repeating the very stupid mistakes of 2016.)

At this point I just can’t see what evidence Mueller could provide that would cause the GOP to impeach Trump. Trump could bring Putin to the senate floor and say “this is my leader” and they would applaud.

I think congressional and senate republicans long ago forfeited any semblance of integrity on the matter. Trump remains popular with the base and they only care about getting re-elected, so they’ll kiss his ass until he stops being President.

Guesses anyone? I’m guessing that there’s plenty of smoke, but no major fires. Maybe enough for a congressional rebuke, but not enough to sink the administration. Plenty of very shady activity, but with just enough cover that someone with a vested interest in seeing innocence will see it assuming some major
