Evangelion is, I think, a difficult anime to like in the sense of enjoyment. I said this on another thread, but while I think Evangelion is vastly important and influential...it’s also not an anime I really have any desire to watch again.

As a nerd who is ashamed to know this, I would point out that the age difference between Padme and Anakin in the Phantom Menace isn’t that big. Anakin is 9 and Padme is 14. The fascinating thing about this is that, along with the earlier footage, it seems to refute the once popular idea that the giant squid was not an “active” predator but would float downward facing to grab prey as it floated by.  Giant squid are active hunters searching out food and actively going after it.

Exactly. Evangelion is a meandering, slog of pointless dialogue and dead end plot points intermixed with a few interesting mech fights. The ending makes very little sense and the entire time you just want to slap the s*** out of the main character. At the same time, it’s an interesting and important view into…
