Shorter Oprah:

I think it’s in the Beatles biopic that Ron Howard did relatively recently, where they are being interviewed by the American media for the first time, and one of them mentions the name of an old blues man. One member of the media replies, “who’s that?”

Mr. Trump, are the rumors true that you will build a Trump Tower in Wakanda to help repair relations with the African nation?

To be fair, the Beatles were as influenced by British music hall.

President Trump after your recently reported comments on Africa, are you concerned that the Black Panther movement is gaining traction in Wakanda?

Yeah, but I’m not gonna hold that against The Who. Still maximum R&B in my book.

Agree on Clapton - overrated by a country mile.

I just spoke with Jimi and he says you’re full of it.

Prince?

Context matters. Clapton was a star in 1965 in England. There was no Prince, Hendrix wasn’t there, yet, and Clapton was playing stuff not heard by the public. There’s a great film of Dylan watching the Yardbirds in ‘65, totally blown away.

Maybe Prince was never really seen as a top guitar guy because he didn’t make guitar music. Cream poured a psychedelic torrent for a couple of years. I always hear from Prince fans that he’s so talented and played all instruments, but I don’t think it’s impressive if it still sounds like something that an average band

Prince? LMFAO! Really - GOAT? That’s messed up right there!

That’s not an easy sell... people forget Jimi did it without technology...he wasn’t using equipment they had when prince was playing...just because he played few good solos doesn’t make goat....

That’s just how music evolves. Everyone adapts something that someone else has done and puts their own spin on it. Jazz encompasses African and European music. Someone from Africa or Europe might say that ‘American black music’ as you put it was stolen from them. African music comes from tribal music, etc. So they

Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery, Derek Bailey, John McLaughlin, Nels Cline, and both of his Yardbirds successors, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.

“As a musician, I’ve always been amused that I’m both British and black; particularly because so many American musicians seem to aspire to be British while so many British musicians, in the ‘Sixties in particular, went to such great pains to be black.”

Nah man there’s other guitarist better than Clapton and Prince I’d say that the best is someone like Jimmy Page or Stevie Ray Vaughan

I couldn’t agree more with most of what you said except for one thing. To say Prince was a better musician than Hendrix is true, given that Prince played everything, but to say he was a better guitarist is just silly. Prince’s guitar playing wouldn’t, couldn’t have been what it was without Hendrix. Indeed, Prince’s
