There seems to have been much talk of trying to bring faith (i.e. Christianity) back into public life lately in the UK, despite many Britons not being particularly religious. I wonder if this is part of it or associated with it. I'm also sensing a slight moral panic within the government and its associated groups over

That is true. BDSM does seem to be characterised more often than not as women sub.

How long before someone tries to generate a moral panic over this?

I'll give her credit, at least she didn't treat porn as one monolithic block.

There definitely is a gender divide on porn in the public and media perception of the matter. In the most serious media any man who watches porn is practically a rapist their eyes and I can honestly say I have never seen any mention of a woman watching porn (of any kind) in the media.

Scaring people with the worst case and/or the unlikeliest consequence is quite common from alsorts of people professing that they know better than you on a wide variety of subjects. They bank on you never questioning them or researching the subject yourself.

Out of interest did he have anything to say on the matter? Or was he checking out the opposition?

Given that Karzai and the Afghan government endorses laws that restrict the freedoms of women in Afghanistan, with the US (and other western governments) barely making a murmur over it, is it surprising that they're trying their luck in the US?

I have sympathy for bulls. I know it's anthropomorphic to imagine that a bull would think like a human but it's not much of a choice between death or celibacy, with a vet manhandling you every so often.

The sudden shift to extreme talk and proposals in many conservatives is astounding, in both degree and speed.

I am sorry for your loss also.

Yeah, I honestly don't see the reasoning in mentioning the cock fighting.

You're right, it should read as "doesn't tally," and "employment of those who at the lower end of the wage scale" should read as "employment of those who work at the lower end of the wage scale."

I don't think it is as simple as that. There are of course issues with the welfare of the women (and men) involved, what effect it has on those who watch it and what effect it has on society has a whole. There is a clash of opinions from those who want it prohibited outright and those who would prefer regulation

The cat will usually find a way to punish the owner if they aren't on alert.

When they seriously start using animals as comparatives to humans you know things are getting bad.

This swings on the word 'better' in the 'better alternative,' part as that is the part that implies that the porn is a lesser alternative rather than an equal alternative. Some might agree with the former but it does tally with Grey's previous statements.

Sex in toilets? Ugh and not to mention illegal.

It's like a lot of things related to sexual matters I suppose. Other than when somebody is being forced to do something by someone else or by particular circumstances, finding a universal feminist opinion can be hard to find. In the case of BDSM I do find it odd from my casual readings how strongly it provokes

I've become very sceptical about the Arab Spring revolutionary governments too. I know it has only been a short time since they were elected but I'm not convinced they have the best interests of women, homosexuals, people who live a fairly liberal lifestyle or express opinions the even remotely contradict Islamic
