I believe the South Koreans forced people to use their real identities online a few years ago to combat trolling and discovered that it didn’t make much difference at all.

I just explain away dating by thinking the story is set in an alternate universe where technology progressed differently.

Apparently one modder has created a free version that has irregular pop-ups asking you to pay for the pop-up free version.

I like the first example about farming rats on that Wiki page.

Yes, I think there is a relatively new law or going be one in the near future in relation to digital goods and the ability to get a refund. I haven’t read into it, though.

Liken it to someone selling pirated games/movies, or how the MPAA/RIAA goes after Piratebay/Kazaa/etc, but even worse, because they’re actually taking a slice of the profit.

And only then if they sell $400 worth so their $100 payout kicks in.

Interesting that Nexus is listed as an organisation which can receive a slice of Valve’s large cut when you buy an item from Steam’s Workshop.

One difference is the payment: Ads or donations versus direct cash, though Valve holds that cash until you earn a payout of $100.

They’d have to sell 8000 of that mod for the modder to see their minimum $100 payout.

I foresee Jim Sterling reviewing even more crap releases on his Youtube channel.

It’s a bit a like DLC that fractures a casual multi-player base with every successive release.

Yeah, when I was kid not so long ago a parent might gift you a game and the game was there in its entirety (no paid for DLC that comes out every month or so) and mods free (though some what limited by download speed/limits). A kid gets a game these days and chances are if they haven’t got a generous parent or one who

Isn’t it also true that Valve holds the money gained from a mod or a collection of mods until it amounts to $100 before they hand it over?

Charging for a Jurassic Park mod would have lawyers stepping in. I’ve seen mods that don’t charge being shutdown by lawyers.

I wonder if Google will actually keep indexing porn for much longer. They've just told their bloggers hosting porn on to clear out.
