I want to live in a world where Hyundai sells 800hp rally cars for the street.

I’ll take a no door.
“Who is still shopping for an Acura NSX with this on the way?”
I’m the same way. Scoffing at people camping outside Apple stores to buy the next iPhone, people paying 50% markups on in-demand new cars, etc. But at the same time, if Toyota said the GR Yaris was coming to American dealerships next month I would be setting up my tent right now.
The loudest complaining always comes from the people who were never going to buy in the first place.
I understand all of this. But I disagree.
Half the reason I like the GR Yaris is because it’s a proper 2-door hatch. Whatever “hot” Corolla we get is guaranteed to be a 4-door, which instantly kills my hype levels.
If that’s real, I love it.
The problem I have with Ford’s strategy is that by abandoning the passenger car market in favor of SUV’s, or crossovers, Ford is putting themselves in a precarious position if and when fuel prices rise appreciably.
I bought a new FoST in 2016. Would not touch Ford’s current lineup with a 10 ft pole, just boring on top of boring until you get into the $60k+ category.
Bought a new car in 2018 - considered a Focus, liked Hyundai’s Elantra GT more so I bought that instead - in the market for a second car for my spouse right now. And we’re not looking at the crap Ford’s selling.
The simplest way for Ford to get my money would be to make a car I want to buy. But they cancelled all those in an attempt to sell EcoSports, so I’m not in danger of buying a Ford any time soon.
Real Broncos have two doors.
I think even a douche-broified Coyote is still more interesting than an LS.
Factory Five is (maybe) going to start selling its LS-based 9.5L V12 F9 soon...
Oh, that’s E A S Y!!! It’s uuuhhh.... erm....
Ford is just really bad about cutting weight on vehicles where it isn’t a selling point. They could’ve made the Explorer safer and lighter, but it’s already so damn big it doesn’t make sense to cut a few pounds. See also: the nearly 4000 lb Mustang.
You already know the answer...
I’ve got to agree with the Aston. But surely also the Mustang.
