Exactly. I have a wide variety of friends with a very wide variety of tastes in women, but none of them are into BBW. I myself like thicker, curvier women, but not fat. Feel like the author is vastly over-stating the dating options available for legitimately fat women in our society.

That word has a very different connotation. Furtively suggests that the person is nervous, stealthily suggests that they're in control. So...that would not be a very good word choice.
