A welfare state is the concept that the state is unable to sustain itself and constantly needs government assistance to remain afloat. CA has a surplus and therefore cannot be counted, likewise Texas and I think all of those other states.

40 years ago Newsom would have been a moderate republican. These days not being pants on head crazy makes him a dem. 

If we were a welfare state, like some in the south, sure, but CA is running a surplus for recent years. At one point we had to literally pay money back to people because it crossed a threshold.

If all you need a case to do is keep your loaner safe, you’re not the kind of person who spends $60 on a premium case.

I’ve already established that 1080p30 is not “fine” by 2023 standards. Any game releasing at 1080p30 on PS5/XSX/PC in 2023 will be deservedly lambasted because that’s far below modern technical standards and is extra absurd when these are ports of games that were released over 20 years ago.

I’m confused as to why you think that Konami selling an emulated version of a PSX game is somehow a good thing. It’s the very definition of “half-assed cash grab.” The fact (if it is indeed a fact) that they’re just emulating MGS1 PSX is the entire problem.

just a little upscaling would have gone a long way. i think their statement is misleading and the game will render with a normal internal resolution. but look how good it can look with just some upscaling!

It’s a REMASTER.  They can re do the whole damn game in 60fps.  Not impossible by any means.  Just a lot of time and money.  

You’re kind of ignoring the fact that modern games struggle to run at native 4K because they also have many other demands on the GPU. A game released in 1998 is not going to have those same demands. Hell, a phone could run MGS1 at 4k60.

Those remasters came out 12 years ago. The product we’re discussing is coming out in 2023. 1080p is not standard resolution for videogames in 2023, particularly for ports of games that came out over a decade ago (two decades if we’re counting the original versions).

There are numerous mods for FF7PC that make the battles 60FPS and it looks and works great.

All other things aside with how unimpressive this already is, but why is MGS2 running at 30 on the Switch ever? It was 60 FPS on the Playstation 2, there’s no reason the handheld Switch version should be operating at 30, let alone the docked mode.

Nope. I’ll emulate them and not give them a dime. This shit is sooooooooo unacceptable in 2023. 4K is new 1080P, and 30fps feels like a mess. This is ignorant developers stuck in time when computing power could not give any better than 30fps.
