Nah. It’s not fine. The fact that progress is tied almost purely to challenges is not fine. Right now multiplayer is a mess because half the team on both sides is so obviously not even worrying about the match and just trying to complete their challenges.

You get less game if you buy Halo Infinite than in previous titles. People are understandably upset that iconic armor sets that have been available for free no longer exist in game unless you pay money. I don’t think Kotaku has covered the revelation that there are more than 88 store bundles and that it would cost

I’m of the opinion that battle passes in general shouldn’t be too hard or take too long to complete. But as it is, so many seem to take the route of “This had better be the only game you play, and you’d better play it every day for a few hours, so that you can finish it before it ends and be able to wear the items you

The Battle Pass is fine, the Challenges are not, the Event Challenges are also not.

they deserve a chance to see if their vision clicks or not in the long term.

You can say “halo’s not about all this stuff. It’s about the gameplay” but I used to get the campaign and MP complete for $50-$60 without microtransactions and battlepasses, so 343 made it about this stuff. They took away some stuff and charge us to get it back. I find it a bit like Squenix slowing down Avengers’ XP

I have never purchased a Battle Pass in my entire life, but as a Halo fan, I take issue with the fact that Halo Infinite does not offer up any sort of worthwhile cosmetics whatsoever for players who do not pay money. Halo 3 and Halo Reach (my two most played and understood Halo games) had plenty of cosmetic offerings

Splitgate comes to mind, and even will give you cosmetic upgrades without you having to pay for the battle pass, although you do get more by paying for it.

It’s 2021, we can stop pretending that AAA games having free modes is done out of the goodness of someone’s heart and not because they’ve already planned on how to recoup any potential financial losses from that decisions through unreasonable grinds, exhorbitant microtransactions and exploitative practices.

Haha. It’s simply not a beta. That’s a shield for the game to get hit with kid gloves on for the first few weeks. As this article mentions, 343 is literally on vacation right now. So less than two weeks before release, and with your studio taking a (rightfully earned) break...nothing will change. This is the full,

Beta lol. Why are they charging for battle passes and starting events if this is just a test run. This first round should have been free then.

I completed all the challenges for last week and unlocked the “ultimate challenge” which you have to complete to get the weekly reward.

“Beta” for a game that releases in less than two weeks, and with 343 currently on Thanksgiving break...this isn’t a game in beta by any real measure other than to be a shield. This IS the game, as it is released.

They shouldn’t. If they decided that’s how they were gonna end the Skywalker saga, I can hate them all I want but it was their decision and they made it. I don’t ever want to see any of these characters again.  Not even Babu Frick.  None of them.

I think the best case scenario is a press release that says, “We consider those stories and characters to now be part of the Legends universe and look forward to adding new stories in their place.”

Times like these remind me how great of a guy Iwata was. He met with each employee twice a year. So if enough people brought something up, I can only assume it would be something that would be dealt with. No one but actual employees can vouch for that. As someone who worked in a super large company, I can safely say,

Yeah, you sound like a jilted customer. The thing is, the fate of Kotick is not in our hands, but in the hands of people who only care about dollars. You may not like what Kotick did to GH and CoD (and neither do I), but he nonetheless milked a helluva lot of money out of those franchises, and in the case of CoD,

Just because Step 1 doesn’t solve the entire problem doesn’t mean you don’t take Step 1.

Kotick is a true titan of the industry. He’s been in charge for 30 years, enjoys a reputation as a fantastically successful (financially if not morally) leader of the largest third party publisher, is fabulously wealthy, and most vitally in the current circumstance, has friends in every corner of the market, making

Huh. TIL the definition of doom.
