I agree with the general thrust of your article; Rousey’s accomplishments remain mind-boggling, and MMA doesn’t lend itself to perfection or sustained dominance.

The HBO segment is a fantastically shoddy piece of journalism. Domestic violence in MMA merits rigorous treatment. This wasn’t it.

Because, like many UFC fighters, he’s not all that interesting of a person. He’s generally quiet and respectful, if a bit arrogant. He’s also champ in a lighter weight class, which generally have a harder time gaining traction (which sounds more interesting to you: small people punching each other or giants punching

And the corollary: the happiest couples tend to be besties.

Imperfect relationships =/= toxic relationships. Every healthy relationship requires effort and compromise. But negotiating differences is not the same as enduring abuse. And yes, emotional manipulation is both a form of abuse and a hallmark of toxic relationships.
