It’s not traditional marketing. His Tweets attract enough attention to attract attention and investment.

Musk isn’t smart about technology. He’s just a marketing guy. It doesn’t matter if he’s around to do real work. They're probably better of with this arrangement, because they don't have to humor his ideas.
Good idea, but we should actually make Daylight Standard Time the actual Standard time.
I worked at Boeing as an engineer. The capability existed 20 years ago, and accident investigation reports routinely found pilots were better off allowing the plane to self correct..
The plane already flies itself. Pilots have been replaceable for about 20 years. Most of the time something happens, you want the computer to handle it because the pilot makes it worse.
While factually accurate, I think your comment both misses the point and does not disprove OP.
The problem is the high multiple for the low growth.
Total car sales up 6% YOY, but up 30% in China.
It is a hardware problem. The reason Waymo works and Tesla doesn’t is that the car simply doesn’t see objects it would with Lidar.
Musk never cared. He was marketing his product. Money and power don't change you, they make you more of what you already were.
Stock is actual money. The company could sell the shares to investors on the open market and get $50B. He is diluting the shares making every other share worth less.
He never was. He was just a car salesman, and the messaging worked.
Buyers of this aren’t doing truck stuff. They are attention seeking rich dudes.
I was around for both the internet and smartphones, and you are completely wrong on both counts.
Now there is a poll about Tesla investing in xAI to the tune of $5B. I guess he saw the stock price down and needed to do something.
The beat basically carries Kendrick. Only the first verse is good, and the rest is quite wack.
I have no problem with rap lyrics being used in court, and I have no problem with rappers saying whatever they want to say.
I get your point, but Elon is an employee at the company. He did not solely create that value. He is a CEO, so he probably did less actual work on the product than anyone else. He was just in position to negotiate a pay package that no one else could have, hence the lawsuit and victory.
I looked it up. $50 Billion is more money than Tesla has made in net profits since its inception. Not in a year. In the entire 20 year history, if you combine all of the net profit, it still is not $50B.
In almost all other companies, Elon would likely be fired. He wouldn’t be allowed to have 5 jobs and not focus on the company.
