Tangent: dry your baby’s bottom well and apply a thin layer of lanolin to the whole area. It creates a natural barrier without chemicals and it helps heal the skin. I still swear by lanolin in our house - my youngest still wears pull-ups and gets the occasional heat/diaper rash from them and this is our go-to.
