I went to Singapore from Thailand and it was a bit of a let-down after Thailand. Yes, it was pretty and clean but it felt sterile and soul-less, too. People ignored up in Singapore but they came over to us and said “hi” in Thailand. Both had great food, though.
No, it’s gif with a hard g, as in Frank Gifford (Mr. Kathy Lee, aka The Gif) and jif with a soft j, as in Jiffy peanut butter. You’re wasting your time; there is no debate, people will treat this relatively new word as they please, regardless of what its creator says.
No, beef. My grandpa was from Hamburg and he bought high-quality ground beef from the local German butcher in Queens and made us “red meat” sandwiches all the time (open-faced, an Butterbrot.) The extra treat was the knust (the heel of the loaf of bread.)
I saw the animated film and the Broadway play and I still haven’t been whelmed. I might watch this- I like her and it looks “real” enough to be interesting.
I didn’t try it but they kept offering it to everyone. I was there with about 50 travel agents for a 4-day conference, so they wanted us to try everything. They bury it for a while and it rots. I hear it has some ammonia aspect. I do not regret saying no!
I don’t remember any beef in Iceland, just putrefied shark. They kept insisting that we try it.
I always buy the meat at a butcher. When I saw that this guy had a big tub of chopped meat and was selling sandwiches right outside of the entrance to the train station, I thought that was a little risky but the germans didn’t seem to mind.
I had that once, too. My Mom’s cousin from Detmold used to own a fancy restaurant and threw a little party for us when we were visiting. She served all kinds of interesting stuff, including spread made from raw pork. I recall that my Mom and I thought it was sehr gut geschmeckt!
I like steak tartar, the version you’ll find in Hamburg: raw ground beef on buttered bread. I saw a street vendor selling this treat right outside the Hauptbahnhof last time I was there and he was doing a brisk business. I never hear about any health issues that are connected with this; I wonder why?
I really had no idea who she was and only became aware of him after that song pushed him into the spotlight. Then I watched Deja Vu (Denzel Wahington) and saw an actress who blew me away- Paula Patton. She was wonderful and certainly the bright spot in a movie that was okay.
That sounds unrealistic. If this happened to you or me, we’d probably both feel aggravated/offended/embarrassed. Rounding up witnesses and recording their identities so they could testify on my behalf later would probably be the last thing on our mind. Are you thinking that Mykki Blanco looks like someone who might…
Because dry ground doesn’t soak up water effectively?

I was in Singapore with two guys from my office (in NYC; one of them was also a DJ; mostly “house/techno/trance” I think.) One night, we had so much difficulty hailing a cab. We finally went into a hotel and hid until a cab pulled up to let out some pax and we jumped in before the driver could say anything. We asked…
The announcers were speaking immediately after it happened and were saying what they thought they saw. They were obviously wrong.
You’re looking at the wrong video. The authorities who were actually there and have had considerable time to examine and review the situation all agree that the wing of the plane clipped the cable and caused the camera to fall. and then there’s your analysis. I’m going with the Swiss officials; you’re just being…
Maybe the announcer’s explanation was premature and the official statement was released later on after they’d had a better look at what happened?
I hear ya! Sorry if you’re upset. don’t worry, I don’t care what you look like either.
