"Just" a game is deceptive. A game isn't "just," a game is a game, and like other cultural/entertaining texts, games have a part in defining our culture and who we are.

I have Minecraft, and I just bought the Voxatron bundle (honestly I was probably going to buy Binding of Issac anyway and since that was included I thought might as well go for the bundle). Earlier Humble Bundles I considered buying but I had already bought the game(s) I wanted the most from the bundle. I do play some

I try to keep my eye on some indie stuff but I don't see a lot of strategic sorts of RPGs. The indie stuff I end up playing tends to be platformers, adventure games, and random in-browser stuff.

What about not AAA stuff? I think indie stuff would have a better chance of working on my computer anyway.

Yeah I want to play The Witcher 2 really bad, but I don't think my computer can handle it. That's kind of my point though; just three more games, and two of them are really only better on PC? Doesn't seem worth the investment to me, especially if Witcher 2 ever actually shows up on 360.

I wouldn't really have an issue with it if there was a good RPG developer to replace BioWare with on consoles. I'm still waiting for the Witcher 2 to show up on 360.

Correction: "BioWare stop making your games like COD."

"Unfortunately, you can't stop a teenage boy from saying or typing a perverted, sexist, or "offensive" comment online."

Hah, okay, that one works.

Actually, I don't. I just get wikipedia and dictionaries. Doesn't look any more repetitive than what would normally come up.

I feel like I was just saying this in a comment the other day...

Divorced from that article, I would agree with the general idea. I'd also probably still say I agree with most of it. But the particular way it's said in that article really leaves a bad taste in my mouth for two reasons:

So what you're saying is if she wants to be treated equitably and as a regular person, she has to hide the fact that she is a woman? That having her (female) name and pictures on her articles is screaming for attention?

I think pretty much everything about "Gut Check" needs to be clarified, heh. Right now it doesn't amount to much more than a poll of a small group of Kotaku writers. Personally, if I'm going to buy something at or near launch day, it isn't something I'm waiting to see how the reviews come out on. If I'm going to wait

I love video games, but buying games that you won't even touch for several years is a waste. Unless the game is really niche, you'll still be able to find it in a few years, and it will probably be cheaper. I know that lots of people do this, but it is completely rational to not buy something because you have other

To be honest, while I don't really disagree with the article, I don't think it would end screaming about reviews. I think people will feel offended by them anyway, they feel offended by a lot of things that are just opinion.

But you don't have to "signal" that it is your opinion when it is in an opinion piece. If people take it as objective, that's their fault for not understanding what reviews are. Flagging a statement as your opinion tempers it, makes it sound like you didn't think that very strongly. If reviewers did that, they would

"Note that this isn't defeatist talk, because it's a fight you were never fighting in the first place, let alone had a chance of winning. It's just a fact of life, like finding out Santa isn't real, and the sooner you accept it and move on, the quicker you'll find peace with the subject."

But you don't have to say "I thought" in front of every sentence when the whole review is what you thought. I mean, this is what every teacher I've ever had from high school through law school has told me, but it's common sense. It's just a waste of words to say "this is my opinion" every three seconds when everything

This doesn't really bother me directly, just the idea kind of bothers me. I don't really care about the resources that went into developing it or what they could have done otherwise. I don't even really care if it is mandatory or not.
