That would be... serious misconduct by both the lawyer and the publishing company to have a contract that paid someone other than the copyright holder. And yah, there can be problems in probate. I'm not defending Ms. Lee's lawyer by any means, but my guess is she knows she's under a microscope here and won't do…
I'm worried Lee isn't competent now. But theoretically she was competent when she picked this lawyer to make decisions for her. If someone wants to challenge that, and they have standing to do it, they could. Unfortunate or not, she made this choice, and now it's playing out.
I definitely don't think Lee is doing it for the money. My hope is that her sister - a lawyer - created a good estate plan for her. So after she dies, the money will go wherever it is that Lee wants it to go. I'm sure the lawyer is well paid for her services. All that is ok with me.
Interesting - my husband and I are on the same team: This was not something she ever planned to publish, but heck yeah we'll read it, of course. I'm thinking of it as when an author's letters or drafts are published after death. They're not supposed to be good; they shed light on the author's thinking and growth. How…
Try the twitter search suggested (search for "females" on twitter) and you're absolutely right. For an amazing contrast, try searching "women."
I thought of that, that maybe the sister had her under her thumb all these years. Still, it's her sister. That's who she chose to have in her life.
Oh, lordy. I hadn't thought of that. It's entirely possible. Ugh.
That sounds like an awesome 5-minute dinner that my kids would gobble up. Adding it to my mental recipe file.
To give a boring answer, people buy cakes for weddings. There were some wedding-photographer cases too, but people usually only hire wedding photographers once in their lives. The wedding-cake cases had traction because, in at least one of the cases, the couple had been going to that bakery for 15 years. The first…
Here, I'll make it even simpler. If you run a business you're allowed to refuse to serve anyone, for any reason you want, UNLESS that reason is based on discrimination against a protected group.
I was thinking it was "A medical school (Christian counseling center, potato potahto) friend invited me to see a *movie about* abortion once."
We're all basically living in a false construct like the matrix, and we have to check in with Fox to tell us what reality is like. Or, maybe the opposite of that.
Well they believe there are no-go neighborhoods governed by Sharia law in Britain and France, and they believe that Bobby Jindal knows more about these no-go zones than people in Britain and France do. So of course they'd believe that this is serious. They believe everything.
Mirena = almost no period. No need for cup.
This guy was the boss, so I was pretty happy about that. There's a board of trustees he reports to, but my guess is they're pretty liberal... and pretty happy with him. He's been doing a good job. Yeah, it's harder when things aren't going well.
It doesn't make sense for selling clothes at all, agreed. Another commenter says it's actually a web series by a couple of comedic actresses who are documenting their attempts to cope with life, and Ann Taylor is a sponsor.
Thank you, I thought there must be more to this.
I talked to the guy in charge of the venue in my town that canceled him. They had even preprinted programs for the season with his photo (among other) on the cover. Canceled him and paid the fees, plus had to refund/exchange $50,000 in tickets - not small change by any means. He said it was worth it and no…
