I love conspiracy theories. Not because I actually think 99.99999999999% are true but because the community that surrounds them is fascinating from a sociological perspective.

Abed: [opens a Christmas gift marked "Meaning of Christmas"] It's the first season of Lost on DVD.

Are we sure that Captain Judikha isn't a vampire? As noted by Hypnosifl, she first appeared in the 1970's and from the look of these pictures, hasn't aged a day. Seriously, she is looking good. I was born in the '70s and have aged far worse.

I never said I believe in God, just that joining the church was beneficial to me.

I am formerly militant agnostic that was just confirmed in Episcopal Church yesterday. I still have no clue about the existence of some cosmic daddy figure, declare Ramen! when I hear about science beating back creationism, know the bible is just a book of "wisdom" by prehistoric goat herders and believe Science has

I hesitate to even mention this because...well...it just seems so crazy.

I always consider supervillain as my back-up plan if my current career doesn't pan out. So, in order to do my due diligence, I found the company that is making these radiological sensors for police cars and took a look at the spec sheet.

Speak for yourself, among my friends I am occasionally referred to as Nostradumbass. I have the eerie ability to predict when friends are about to engage in activities that prove they are dumb asses.

Are you sure that you aren't a mid-level bureaucrat? If not, you could have a promising future sucking up those higher than you and jack booting underlings.

I agree that the "attended a barbeque fundraiser" is the action that most likely led to the firing, however the question is if their dismissal based on political activity (either the fundraiser or the "Like" button) is appropriate.

A Brad Bird project will always be given a chance by me because he blessed us with Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

I would love to see first contact.

I would never be so bold to assert that you should be "satisfied" but merely that I personally try to appreciate where I am, as well as where I am going. That doesn't mean that you don't strive for the horizon, we as a species must always be pushing the boundaries, but... I guess Mark Twain put it well.

I see. But think of how much you have already seen.

But think of how many experiences that you will never see because of the timing of your birth. The Library of Alexandria, MLK's "I Have A Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial, Darwin's voyage on the Beagle, the first flight at Kitty-Hawk, etc.

Would you really want eternal life? I could see the appeal if it was coupled with intelligence augmentation of some kind, but it seems to me that we would be woefully unable to deal with billions of years of experiences. I can't imagine anyone being able to remain sane after a few hundred years.

We agree. The best (and possibly only) course of action is to continue to do the research under the assumption that human cognition is inherently computational in nature.

A decade ago I was attending a conference in Coccoa Beach when there was a nighttime shuttle launch. The launch was scheduled for about 2:30 in the morning, which was perfect because it allowed for a full night of drunken debauchery.
