Well that’s far away different from what we talk about on movie/home theater forums, but I guess I can’t say because I haven’t researched it myself. I do know a new 2k scan from the OCN by a reputable company like Criterion or Arrow Video can look pretty much just as good as a 4k scan.

I love real film, and much prefer it, but 35mm comes out to less than 4k for the most part. You might get tighter grain with a higher scan, but no real detail.

Like 99% of movies finish in 2k anyway, no matter what the cinemas display. 4k CGI is insane. Even movies still shot on film (shock!) finish with digital intermediaries in the 2k range.

Indeed. I think it’s more about anti-”Muslim” hysteria right now rather than hating anyone who isn’t White.

I really wish I liked those Marvel shows. I love (most of) the movies, so I gave them all a long, long time to grow on me, but I just don’t like them. Jessica Jones started strong but quickly became drawn-out, repetitive and ended with a big flop. Daredevil had cool fights but the plot wasn’t enough to even keep me

Half-Hawaiin. Maybe even a quarer Hawaiin? I forget, but it’s one of those. One parent’s visage can be more dominant though, so I didn’t think it was a bad as people say. Plus, no one will ever see the movie anyway.

It was a better way for a movie to embrace the concept. Movies are not books, they must change the source material.

I totally agree with you that Scott laid it out plain as day. It’s a shame all he got for saying that was grief, since he’s offering blunt and honest answers to peoples’ questions.

Well yeah, hahaha.

I can’t find the post that said “Ridley Scott answered this already” anymore, but he was right. Like it or not... agree with it or not... Ridley Scott told everyone exactly why this happens. A ton of White American movie-goers want to see White actors, and Hollywood needs those butts in the seats, and this is the sad

Yeah I was gonna say.

Or just have him be John Freaking Harrison, as announced, a Section 31 operative gone rogue to help Kirk. They already had a great storyline, it didn’t need a stupid nostalgia wank.

Well said, man.

I mean, it’s just agree to disagree I guess, but I really think it fits the movie (and what’s saying) perfectly. It’s not an Austin Powers style parody like some say, it’s focused on doing stuff for fun and absurdity, and a princess offering you anal sex for saving the world is right in line with that.

It’s funny that people rant about that scene because it plays into exactly what the movie is about. Matthew Vaughn missed how fun and silly older movies were and hated how serious and politically correct everything is today. The whole point of the movie is over-the-top, crass fun. That joke is part of that. So when

Cheese-fest if you ask me.

I get that the anal sex joke is considered too crass for some, but I really think you invented the rest of that from nothing.

If you love classic Bond movies and Vaughn’s humor then you will love this movie. If not, maybe not. Divisive movie. I loved it.

The IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes user review aggregate scores are the best survey of general opinion we have. Each movie has a 7 or so on those sites, which is very much a “good” score. I don’t know how much clearer I can be on that. A bunch of forum posts you read are much more anecdotal than a review aggregate of a

It just feels like the stories go on forever with no real ending or quality pacing. I’m mostly a movie guy, I like how they (usually) feel like self-contained stories, one and done, designed with a start, middle and finish. I did like how some shows, like say Buffy, DS9 or X-Files, would have serialized elements but
