There are not "occasional blackouts," they blackout every game that airs in your area.

As said to others, they block the games broadcast on cable in your area.

Yep. I live in Philly, so not only does it block my local Philly sports but also a lot of New York and Baltimore sports as well. Annoying.

I doubt they will for a long time, sports is one of the few genres still making a lot of ad revenue on television because everyone watches live.

Games shown on cable are blacked out, so it's mostly useless.

Apple has been doing that crap for two decades now. Can't blame them, that's one way they get their "hip" reputation.

I've just grown to hate commercials. I would rather wait for a blu ray release if I love a show, or wait for a stream if it's filler and mediocre. I don't think anything's worth seeing commercials anymore, outside of live events.

It annoys me that I have to have cable just to watch baseball, which is the only sport I watch and literally the only time I turn on the cable box.

I wonder if eventually someone will try just releasing episodic narratives for $2.99 an episode through digital platforms (with a blu ray or whatever collection later on) without even trying TV first. The first time that happens it'll be a milestone.

If they say that in the show it'll be ace ;)

Yep! That would be fine too.

Yup!

I don't agree with all of them, but good points. Stuff to think about. I do hope they don't fall down the Whedon-esque manic pixie dream girl route if they make him into a her. That's the real scary part, to me.

Off-camera fan-canon is fine, I would just prefer an explanation on-screen. Considering how freaked the 11th Doctor seemed when he originally thought he was a girl, I would think he would at least mention it if it really happened. Moffat's quote above is basically trying to retcon the show into having the Doctor not

I don't really grant your assertions, so it's hard to debate them. I don't think making an in-story reason for doing it now makes him a "sexist" for not doing it before. I think that's a super weird leap in logic.

I think that's fine in some situations, but not in this one. I disliked that they tried to address simple makeup changes with Klingons in Star Trek for example. Just say they always looked like that! However in this case where he's been a male character so many times in a row, I really think they need some kind of

I hope they do. They didn't with the Master, though, and now Moffat is characterizing it as a normal thing.

I'm totally cool with it, all I want is an explanation. The "13 white guys in a row" being totally random would make my logical brain explode.

Skyfall would be super high on my "most overrated films" list.

While I would love to see the JJ-verse eradicated I think most other people loved the 2009 film. I would guess Paramount have exactly zero interest in going back to the prime universe.
