Amazon isn't exactly a class act. Expectations are pretty low. No iOS support is just silliness if they're serious about selling music, but I guess they're playing games because Apple has dared to sell digital books and challenge their virtual monopoly. Anyhow, I totally lost respect for Amazon after they pulled the

Planet Bike makes awesome inexpensive bike lights that can double as an emergency light that, if you're a serious rider, you'll likely have with you most of the time. It has a little mounting bracket that it slides out of making it a nice small, but powerful flashlight. I have the half watt one, which has a hundred

This is a cool idea. Does the bookmarklet work in Mobile Safari as well?

@Geistian: Sounds like OCD. I personally stay clear of tagging anything especially music tracks if I can.

@Silence04: What a bunch of staged nonsense. Work for big chem much?

Wow is this LH? So many comments make the progressive point that reducing pesticides isn't just about personal health. I'm impressed. However, if you can't afford a completely organic diet, then doing your best by boycotting the worst offenders seems like a wise strategy both for your own health and the many other

@numshah: It's true that going vegetarian is the first and best thing you can do for the world and yourself. However, you can always do both. Go veg and go organic!

@Matthew Todd: Good point. Pesticide use also harms the natural world, contributes to intensive farming practices which displaces many farm workers, and it depletes land in the long term, among many other problems. Although if you can't afford organics all the time then buy what you can afford from among the most

Brilliant talk. Reality is better than anti-depressants, and way more effective.

I'm a de Botton fan. His book Status Anxiety is a must read. It was made into a nice BBC documentary which was very well done. If you want to find out what makes the modern west tick check it out.

The big question for me is always whether essential addons will work. If only they could make addons backward compatible it would make upgrading a no brainer. As it is, I'll probably wait at least 6 months and then investigate whether I can live without the addons that will never be updated.

Thanx. Anyone know if this will work on the iPad?

Stuff! I'm thinking about my annual purge. Feels so good. Minimalism is my regulative ideal. But stuff resists.

Too cute.

I like it. Very thoughtful app. There are others, and you can rig word up to do full screen. But the whole point is that you don't have to waste time setting up an over powered word processor most of whose features you will never need just to write words. OMM Writer is one of the best distraction free writers

What a total sham the nuclear power industry is. How could this not have been foreseen? Let's just hope the hell there isn't a total meltdown and they are forced to abandon other stricken reactors because they can't get near them causing multiple meltdowns.

MS should be commended. If they didn't write such total garbage so many folks who spend endless hours trying to make it work would have to find more meaningful employment. Hats off to MS!

Try DuckDuckGo instead.

For iPad users this is a great update. Much snappier all around, but especially Safari.

Admittedly I haven't done a ton of writing on mine even though it's on a minimum of 5 hours a day. Nevertheless, I think the absolute most important trick to being productive on a tablet is to learn how to type using the built in keyboard. You actually need to teach yourself. Don't assume just because you can type on
