True story, one of my ancestors was an original contributing artist (cartoons and covers) in the early years of The New Yorker. Also true story, relaying this information in an attempt to rig the New Yorker caption contest in your favor does not help you win it. Ever.

You know what shakes me up? How you read the headline, dive in to the post, and the first question is not about the thing you were expecting to read based on the headline. They do that every time. I start reading, then, whoops different topic what is this??? I appreciate this column but this is my minor quibble.

If “manufacturing a media spectacle” is a violation of RICO, then what the fuck is everyone waiting for? I think everyone has standing to sue Trump for that.

Wellllllll, not really. Truth is a defense to libel, and it is an affirmative defense. That means the people accused of libel would have to show that what they said was true, that these women were racist, to use the defense. It might be that the lawyer really thinks that what they said was not racist so no one could

The one good option? Would have been for the moderators to do their job, and let him know that he was encroaching uncomfortably on her space. I have never seen this mentioned. It always seems to be on the victim to somehow resolve the situation....

thank you.

This made me tear up. I know I’m going to have to buy this book despite the fact that I will cry all the entire way through it.

I have a TON of criticism on HRC as a candidate

He probably has nothing to do with the show creatively. Executive producer credits are mostly BS. He likely put up some money for the first few episodes or some bullshit like that. Executive producer credits don’t mean you are involved in the show, there’s literally zero effort involved.

I think she’s talented but she seems rather conflictive and kind of always comes off as a little bitter about not being as famous as some other comedians. I don’t know, I’m just always a little suspicious of people who seem to have so much conflict in their lives, I can’t help but think maybe it’s them?

Burn

I’ve seen the show...... you might want to get him more involved in the future.

Of course not. They don’t see themselves as “working class” but as “temporarily embarrassed millionaires” who fully expect all that wealth to trickle down.

Maybe Kevin couldn’t wait.

Oh man, I saw the Silver Jews on their final tour (promoting ‘Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea’), and it was the best show I’ve ever seen. So much passion in that room, mostly because people believed them when they said it was their last tour...

I’m starting to think this R. Kelly fellow might not be a good guy.

I agree. Neither party is the “good guy” at this point.

Jesus fucking christ, is his ex wife a 14 year old experiencing social media for the first time?

The people of Atlanta are still really sensitive about Sherman jokes... I know this because I make them constantly.

I literally died.
