LOL that’s sad commentary, because Superman Returns was far better written, acted, edited and directed than either of Hack Snyder’s wastes of time.

We could view every movie ever in a bubble... but why? Quality is reflective of its contrast with OTHER material. Other Superman films. Other superhero films. Other films in general. We compare and contrast works of art and film and literature all the time with what has come before and what has come after. If

Glory in your infantile reading abilities and hate those more verbose than you! Do it!

I agree. He nails it.

“That’s the reason he was created. That’s the reason his two Jewish creators made him a Moses analogue (NOT a Jesus one, as Snyder and others believe)“

I think that’s where I end up parting ways with your take on things, oddly right at the ‘beginning’ for the character, at least. Jonathan and Martha Kent are such a HUGE part of who Superman is and why he is. And what Snyder did to the Kents, the degree to which he misinterpreted them to, imo, a nearly vomit-worthy

You argue that there is no point to superheroes at all, thus Superman, Batman, Captain America, Spider-man... none of them should exist as heroes.

That’s melodramatic.

Allow my rebuttal. My opinion isn’t shared in isolation, but it’s also shared with a lot of people within the comic industry itself that I trust and follow. Zack Snyder openly admits he asked DC writers about certain decisions for Superman, and they told him Superman wouldn’t do certain things - which Zack says made

This is an interesting discussion and you make many good points, so let me - at the risk of bloating this - address them all, because they really do deserve my attention and response.

Politely disagree. The whole finale of the Injustice storyline, the final moments of that story, involve Batman (both of them) bringing over the uncorrupted Superman to the Injustice world. Of having the “real” Superman show up and save the day by confronting his corrupted double, and spitting truth and fire at him.

If you say so.

As a father, Jonathan Kent’s advice sucked and he was a selfish, paranoid, cynical, fear-mongering moron that told his son to hide his gifts and talents, to fear the reprisal of other men, and to even consider letting children die so that his secret would be safe. He never properly prepared Clark for the inevitable

My very favorite thing about this story is how everyone in Smallville knows he’s Superman. They’ve known and protected him his entire life. That’s the exactly the sort of upbringing that would create someone as altruistic as Superman. An entire community treating you like family.

MoS’s self discovery ended up completely missing thier mark to be honest. “Because I got beer dumped on me, I’ll destroy this man’s livelihood.” Then we see Clark walk away without a care in the world because of (insert angst explanation from Snyder). It ended up with Zero context. I didn’t see a man struggling to

And so far, 2 movies in (which lengthwise should count as 3), we still haven’t seen Snyder’s Superman mature one single bit.

I’ve been enjoying the heck out of this series. It nails down the character perfectly and makes him “human” without trying to give him huge flaws to over compensate for the apparent lack of them.

Execution, my dear friend.

We mock Man of Steel for doing it poorly, not for doing it.

Might be the same topic but it’s handled better in one of the versions. MoS didn’t feel like it built into an understanding of the character, other than he’s a force of nature that we should fear. In American Alien, it feels like we’re watching Clark mature.
