Can we talk about how out of the 5 people in that picture, 6 if we include Supes, Wonder Woman is literally the only one shoe showing any skin beyond her face and hands?

DC Exec: “Tridents are cool..but how can we make them cooler?”

I know it’s been said before, I really, really hate the Red Ranger armor the Flash is wearing.

I feel like this is Zack Snyder...

Oh man, there is nothing white guys cannot handle more than being told it is not about them. Even though they having been telling everyone else that implicitly and explicitly for-goddamn-ever. And when you dare try to explain it to them gently they just try to yell it back.

Personally I think the video is trying to tell us something, but I’m not sure I totally agree if the core message extends to everyone, because:

Well let me explain it for you.

My hope is that one day white people will learn that not everything needs to be for us. Unfortunately, that day is not today.

it took 3 paragraphs for you to “shrug” mr Dick?

Yeah, when I watch japanese dramas or movies, they always reference what they are french, italian, german, and its very specific.

They talked about train to busan, snowpiercer and some such, there is movies that are far and between something that is considered quality and even worth watching, there is a lot out there to watch but its hard to pick when the only way to see it is international markets.

The word you’re looking for is “racist”.

“I mean, at the least, just having them focus on existing AMERICAN films that aren’t stereotypical [sic] white-male fantasies and aren’t bankrolled by a tiny number of white male studio execs living in a bubble should be positive, right?”

That’s a rather convenient attitude to take when you overwhelmingly see yourself in movies and comics.

My solution is for people making movies in the United States to start making more movies about people who are not white, male, and straight, especially when they are adapting stories about people (real or fictional) who are THEMSELVES not white, male, and straight. And until they start doing that, I am going to

The argument seems to be that anything made in “Asia” (whatever that is supposed to mean) results in the characters looking “Asian” to “Asian” people and white to white people. I don’t know that anyone has done a scientific study on the phenomenon, and I’m not willing to argue against it. So, there you go.

How many times do people need to be explained that how you expect Asian people to look and how actual Asian people view themselves are two completely different things? Asian people don’t look at the markers that Westerners have assigned to them, when they are making stylicised images of themselves. They don’t need the

My god. It’s a narrative short film showing one character’s emotions, not a scientific study. That was clear even without the update. I appreciate your acknowledgement that as a white male, most things are made for you, but this response kind of implies that you as a white male know how to better capture this

See this is a common argument people make in regards to anime characters. That they don’t look Asian. Here is the thing, in japan if you asked someone what a particular anime character, say like the Major, looked liked. They would say Japanese or Asian. Their default perception of those characters are of Asian descent
