Fuck him for using my favorite game, music, and voice actor to compare a political opponent to a giant machine race that wipes out humanity. It’s like using the Empire music from star wars over Hillary’s face in a political ad. It’s asinine. ALSO I’m SURE EA didn’t give him permission to use it. *Edit: apparently it’s

Yeah I didn’t understand that about this review at all. It seemed to want to say that Batman was good because it was different from Marvel superhero movies. But it was no different from DC superhero movies. It’s like arguing the new Apple iphone is good because it’s different from any andriod that has come before. It

Also this part: This Superman is not a noble, selfless alien who cannot help but do good in the nick of time. He’s a selfish narcissist whose major failings are all caused by his inability to see himself in relation to the world (which, as the future-telling dream sequence shows, might come to a very destructive head).

The criticism of Marvel’s house style is more or less on point. But it seems absurd to level the criticism that everything is too funny when Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies brooded their way to a giant haul of cash at around the same time that the Marvel approach came together. BvS is not daring to be different;

If you keep repeating it’s good, maybe you’ll believe yourself.

One thing all these examples show about Batman and Superman most of all is how badly Batman v. Superman did not understand the characters. The movie was choppy and pretentious, but the biggest disappointment is the fact Batman doesn’t act like Batman, and Superman is not at all a beacon of hope. Fact of the matter is

Already better than the movie. Thats what bugs me the most, Superman isn’t hopeful at all in the movie, totally uninspiring.

Like Batman: Sub-Zero being so much better than Batman & Robin’s Mr. Freeze movie, World’s Finest stomps all over BvS.

I’m going to call BS on critics being caught off guard by it being “too dark”. The Nolan Batman trilogy was ridiculously dark and gritty, but it was also superbly done and critics showered it with praise and acclaim.

“...and I felt like this film actively hated me.”

This just makes me sad because no matter where I go this is all I read. Now honestly like many I had already lost faith in WB’s ability to make good superhero movies. It was very briefly restored with Batman Begins and Dark Knight then killed with Dark Knight Rises. Followed by a shot to the face with Man of Steel. I

I don’t get how they have such a hard time with Superman. Like a gigantic, city destroying fight is exactly what Superman would want to avoid. He’s supposed to be the guy that’s fighting a villain, sees somebody off in the distance about to walk in front of a bus, and he stops fighting to save that person. The level

Yeah, just fuck this movie. How exactly did Lex know BOTH secret identities? Was it from Krypton Siri?? How is there not even a scene where Superman discovers Batman is Bruce Wayne?!? How long did it take for the president to decide to nuke superman? Half a second? It was like, "Sir, we have a sho-" "TAKE IT!". Holy

Superman hanging over the flood victims like glowing alien Jesus. “We get the symbolism. Could you possibly save us now?”

Is just pure bunk. Superman didn’t cause all that death and destruction. Zod did. Superman’s only role was to stop Zod.

I remember being super hyped for Man of Steel because based on everything I had seen I was pretty sure it was gonna have a “superhero smash up”. Probably because I was more of a fan of manga first and got into American comics later but I always loved the comics where Superman and heroes of similar strength tiers to

Firefighters usually don’t make-out with their girlfriends while your house is still burning with people trapped inside.

Agreed. I saw this last night, and I felt like this film actively hated me. It’s like it was a festering horcrux of the worst tendencies of the superhero genre, one which will fuel “See? Superheroes are shit!” arguments for years to come.

Despite what people are saying, still gonna watch it next week.

Why are we surprised that the sequel to Man of Steel would be just as bad, if not worse? Cuz we’re not just dragging Supes down into the gutter, but pretty much the entire DCU as well. I don’t want my Superman film to be DARK AND BROODING. I want it colorful. I want it vibrant. I want it to give me a sense of hope and
