So the truth here is that we have radically different concepts. For me (again pure opinion) it simply is meaningless to claim to someone that this is a good adaptation because surface levels are there if entire things that was important and integral to the plot, characters, visuals, themes and symbolism have been

“especially for all but the most ardent fans of the graphic novel

Yeah, I never said you talked about Watchmens quality as a movie that was my criticism of your word choice that it seems to imply that quality equals adaptation I never said that you said it, I merely pointed out how your writing suggested it. And then I explained that it was really weird for you to claim that the

Except that it has superspies and a secret intelligence agency it really does not have anything in common. It is kinda funny though how Matthew Vaughn directed Kingsman and Kickass and how much he changed in both of them.

So okay fine I was an asshole the two previous comments but the one before that I directly quoted you and than wrote an entire paragraph writing my arguement how I fail to see that even fans of the original can’t determine the quality of it as an adaptation since after it is them who can actually comment on how good

Ofcourse why would I expect you to bother with us poor fans? sorry for even bothering your brillance. I will now take my fan ass away from this place to where commenting on something generally means trying to have a coherent discussion about things. And when I comment about how there are two different debates

Yeah pretty much what I thought from the beginning you are a nerd elitist. Bravo sir Bravo. Hopefully you feel good looking down on people. If you think I want to be right than my good sir you are truly butthurt. Bravo sir Bravo, stunning performance. If I want ot be right I would never argue in the first place, the

And I responded that it seems weird for you in your comment to specifically call out fans regarding if it was a good adaptation, for me it wasn’t its changes undermined themes, characterizations, ideas and visual storytelling for a mediocre action film (I never stated your opinion wasn’t valid simply what mine was).

Okay better explained now but I will say this it is only we who have read the comic that can appreciate it as an adaptation (Which it failed as) but as a movie I told you I felt it wasn’t bad simply mediocre. I also really doubt that no one who dislikes the movie will not enjoy the comic as I have a friend who I saw

I never really liked the movie at all but I feel it is a better movie than it was a comic book. Even the good art can’t save Millar shitty writing.

Fine but why did you make the butt hurt comment about how only harcore fans can dislike it if you did not want confrontation. That feels dishonest for me.

i have read all his Superman ones they are definitely good and seem to reign in his more (im)mature traits. That is why his best comic in I think over 10 years is Jupiter`s Legacy and Starlight(A pretty much straight forward Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon storyline but modern).

I mean it is not like that with almost all Mark Millars comics that he sold to anyone who wanted them. I mean the movie KIngsman is superior to the comic (even Dave Gibbons artwork will not save MIllar) movie Kickass fundamentally opposed thematically to comics Kickass. I mean one ends a message of how escapism is bad

Not really yes there will always be changes from medium to medium but they changes made undermines the comic book completely and showcases how bad a storyteller Snyder is. Is the film good? mediocre but it is faithful to the source material only surface level all the other stuff that makes Watchmen a revolutionary

No he did not. It wasn’t shit it wasn’t the comic all the depth subtlety and complexity was drained from it and made into a mediocre action movie.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.............. he did not remain loyal to any of it except mayby the colors. He really just copypasted it badly and thought it was deep even though it contains scenes totally antithetical to the original comic as well as just not understanding the comics own visual

Mark Millar will you please actually write comic books again? I really like some of your old ones but for the last 10 years or so you seem uninterested in comics and just wants to make movies even if these movies not really resembling your comics. You still seem to take credit for why they are good. So please Continue

I hope his movie retcons eveything and is an intelligent and mature take on the silver age stories when Batman has these costumes....

Okay first of all You have to jump through a lot of fucking hoops to make it even remotely make sense. Where in the movie are shown him (a older Batman who have been doing it for at least 20 years??) only dealing with small time criminals? Because I will admit to some bias here but if I would become a costumed avenger

But again in the comics we have seen bad face worse shit than anything they imply in this movie. So for me it is still pretty fucking bad that you have to resort towards talking about how this is a “feverdream batman” when largely that shows you how much it isn’t Batman. And that is the biggest issue here all of these
