Haha, fair enough! Fuck replacing drum brakes, though. At least the one time I did it it was annoying dealing with all the springy bits, lol. Much prefer doing disks! Especially fixed calipers with open backs! :D

Yeah, electronic handbrakes are useful for parking... and that’s about it, lol.

That’s a good point. None of the cars I’ve ever had have had that setup, though. They’ve all been rear disks, with drum brakes inside the rotor hat.

In any other use of the handbrake, though, you're either parking the car (wheels stopped, zero wear), or you're trying to hoon the car (wheels quickly stopped, little wear.) Using them as a friction brake without locking the wheels is going to do a LOT more wear than those other scenarios!

They last forever if you use the parking brake as a parking brake, since there is effectively no wear on them. Start using it as a regular brake, and that shoe material wears down rather quickly!

This seems like great advice if your goal is for people to needlessly wear out their parking brake shoes in the winter. A better solution for most people is to use winter tires, let Electronic Brake Force Distribution (on more modern cars) do its job, and call it a day. If you aren’t driving like a Muppet, you won’t

Yeah but you can only draw circles centered on the screen. Now they need to mount the entire rotating screen on a horizontal and vertical slider (with a second set of spinning knobs to move it) to allow you to change the center point of the circle. MORE KNOBS!!!

Your seat also might have two armrests. Does that mean you are automatically entitled to both of them? ;)

This alone wouldn’t prevent me from purchasing a vehicle...

I pulled over for a fast approaching police SUV with lights on. It was a one lane road with a half shoulder. Idiot in a pickup truck behind me decided to just go around me, and caused the police vehicle to have to swerve almost onto the grass on the other side of the road to avoid a massive collision. People tend to

The media does hype things, but the CDC does not.

Because it only takes 30 seconds, allows me to track my fuel economy accurately, and makes for some fun data to look at. It's not like those 30 seconds are better spent browsing Facebook while I wait for the tank to fill up.

I don’t keep the receipts for more than a week, but I log every single fill-up in my app, which includes address, etc...

That’s like saying, “Using your horn to honk at someone who pissed you off is no different than driving around constantly laying on the horn 100% of the time you are driving.” But okay. The two are no different. Sure ;)

“Just slow down instead of being an asshole.” What exactly makes me an asshole about using a light bar on a dark road when nobody else is around? Or are you referring to my flashing an oncoming vehicle that has their high beams on? If so, I find it unfathomable that you “safety warriors” think that flashing another

Says the guy who basically admits to blocking the left lane, and then described the road rage you'd do to someone who tried to pass you on the right because you were blocking the left lane. Your posts are nothing if not entertaining :P

When did I say I didn’t have ample time to react? Here you go putting words in my mouth again. I didn’t even come close to rear ending him. I was following at an appropriate distance. He didn’t like that I asked him to move over, and slammed on his brakes. That's what a brake check is. It sounds an awful lot like

Lol. I describe it as a brake check because the person slammed on their brakes to make a point, instead of moving over. That’s what a brake check is. Doesn’t matter how close or far the vehicle behind is.

I don’t tailgate people. Ever. I remain a fair ways behind them, patiently. I always give them at least a good 30 seconds of them not passing anyone at all before I give them a friendly flash of my lights to say, “Hey do you mind moving over so I can pass you properly?” That doesn’t warrant a brake check at all.

Yup! They're pretty good, though I'm told they can be also made a lot brighter by modding them with a "clear" lens instead of the "dimpled" lens they come with. Something to look into down the road :D
