www.cars101.com is a brilliant website for anyone who wants to understand all of the nuances and features and changes for every year of every Subaru.

I’m still trying to find something similar for BMWs since my dad is looking at a new Z4, but I wouldn’t be surprised if something this detailed didn’t exist for any other

I LOL'd.

And why is it so weak that it can’t handle being turned off? It should be able to handle being run in FWD perpetually.

Their AWD systems are not what they used to be with CVT autos only sending ~10% torque to the rear wheels during regular driving.

Ok Boomer! :P

Yup, and your post telling me that I shouldn’t drive wasn’t condescending in the slightest ;)

Ugh. You missed the point. None of these things are TRULY necessary. The point is that all of these things are things that once you own a car with, you won’t want to own a car without them, because they are truly convenient.

Once you have push start, needing to take your keys out of your pocket to start the car just becomes annoying :P

Push start is grossly misunderstood. It's not about the push start button itself. It's about not having to ever take your keys out of your pocket at all, which is very convenient on a cold day when you're all bundled up, or a rainy day, or just in general when you just want to get into the car and start it without

If you use cruise control a lot, it can be quite nice to not have to fiddle with it in heavier traffic. I enjoy driving my car as much as the next guy (I bought a manual BRZ after all), but I won't pretend there are days commuting to work in heavy traffic where I've heavily enjoyed the convenience of radar cruise

Well it’s not do much about the “joy” of pushing a button to start your car. It's about the convenience of not having to take your keys out of your pocket. Keyless entry is all well and good, but if you still need to take your keys out to start the car, then meh. With push start, the keys never leave your pocket. It's

For me the push button start is more about completing the keyless entry package. If you have keyless entry, but no push button, then you still have to take the key out of your pocket to start the car. With push button start, you eliminate the need to ever take your keys out of your pocket, which is very convenient.

Totally forgot to list that one. You’re right!

Absolutely agree I should have included that. Forgot about it!

Haha, maybe what you need is DUAL ZONE automatic climate control! I didn’t get that specific in the list because I didn’t want to seem like I was getting TOO fancy with my list of “necessities” but that’s what my car has, and I’ve found that neither of us ever have to touch the fan speed if we are both allowed to set

I ALMOST put that in (I was basically just listing things my BRZ has, and dual-zone is what mine is, but I didn’t want to get TOO fancy with the list and start an argument.) However, I absolutely agree with you. When you have someone of the opposite sex sitting next to you, being able to set two different temperatures

Ahh yes, I forgot about that. Indeed another thing on the, “would never go back to not having it” list.

Hmm. Well I’ve only had one car with it (my current one) so maybe some of the others suck, but I was actually really impressed with this one. It dims variably, and generally works so well that it just became something I don’t even notice at all anymore, despite the fact that it is always working to varying degrees.

Haha. Perhaps “necessary” is the wrong word to use. I just get into these arguments all the time in the Toyobaru groups, but it’s a bit of a different story there. On one side, you have the FR-S owners. The FR-S basically came with NONE of the fancy creature comforts (safe for the special editions), whereas the BRZ

In b4 all the people who have never owned a car with heated seats (or who bought the base model without them) make a scene about how unnecessary heated seats are.

Things that are “unnecessary” until you live with them and then decide you never want another car without them ever again:
- Heated seats
- Heated mirrors
-
