The Twins were always meant to be the same thing... not sure why everyone seems to think they were meant to compete with Mustangs and 370Zs. Maybe that’s Scion’s stupid advertising or something... I dunno. This car was meant to be a slightly better Daily Driver alternative to the Miata. Nothing more.

Thing is, there are plenty of options for people who want what you want. Cars for people like me? It’s just the BRZ or the Miata. So...

What are you talking about? It sounds like you’re complaining that this is a sports car. “It only has two seats.” SO? Buy a four-door vehicle if you need four seats. Actually, wait, back up. Let’s address all of your complaints:

1. No space. Well, I’ve fit a king-size bed set from IKEA in this car. I can also fit four

“Going from a 205 to a 245 will not cause the suspension to fail in any capacity. That is pure stupidity to suggest. You are not an engineer, so dont try and argue “but engineering dude”. Show me one documented case where a 40 mm wider tire caused failure in a suspension.”

Where else can they cut weight, though at this point?

It’s not as simple as just doing an engine swap.

Ahh, I was referring to the BMW you mentioned.

Link to this price? Or are you not in the US or something?

It’s all interconnected. An OEM isn’t going to add another 100 HP without putting wider, stickier tires on the car. That wouldn’t make any sense. Wider stickier tires have more grip. More grip means the suspension is now over-taxed, which means stiffer spring rates, and fatter sway bars to make up for the added

It’s not bad logic. It’s understanding what this car is. It’s meant to be a LIGHT, CHEAP, tossable sports car. You add all of the stuff I mentioned (and the stuff you said the STi name entails) and it is no longer any of those things. It adds weight, and it adds cost.

240 WHP is 80 more than the car has stock, or, to

That car has a base starting price of $32k, and also weighs 400-900 lb more than the BRZ though.

Oh. My. God. Thank you for this excellent visual aid! Saved!

Because the ST is based off of an economy car platform. The BRZ includes the cost of designing an entirely new platform from the ground up specifically for one low-volume model.

People already rag on the interior quality of this car at its current price point.

The Chevy and Ford can handle that power because they are huge, beefy, heavy cars with huge, beefy, heavy parts. Light, powerful, cheap. Pick two. Or show me someone who does all three...

The Z is a good example, because it shows how expensive this car would be if people got what they wanted.

I own one.

Ugh. Here we go again. OEMs don’t just slap a turbo on a car and call it a day. I hear the same excuse over and over again. The OEM development and testing process is not at ALL equivalent to “Joe’s criteria.” Joe doesn’t care about his warranty. Subaru needs to offer a 60,000 mile warranty, which means they don’t

It’s only half-assed if you don’t understand what would be required to increase power output. There’s a reason the Miata, which has been around since 1875, doesn’t have 300 HP either... but nobody calls that car out on it.

What everyone wants is for them to add 100 HP, which means a beefier drivetrain, which means beefier tires, which means beefier wheels and brakes, which means beefier suspension, which means beefier body and chassis, which means... you want a Genesis Coupe.

Go away, people. Quit trying to ruin this car.
