If you buy the BRZ with an automatic, you’re doing it wrong.

That car also has an entirely different chassis and drivetrain... not sure what your point is.
I test drove the 2.0t (auto because it was all they had) and was very disappointed...
...but I drove the 3.8R Track Spec a week later and that was an entirely different car and a lot of fun. I suspect the auto is what really ruined the 2.0t for me.
And the Miata has never had that much power, and is still the answer to everything.
To echo my reply to another comment, there is nothing inherently wrong with the Genesis Coupe. My meaning wasn’t that it is a bad car, but that it was a different kind of car. More of a competitor to the 370Z and the Mustang. Closer to a muscle car, than a handling king. My intention was merely to point out that…
I’m not saying it couldn’t use more power. I’m just saying that it cannot be discounted completely as “not a sports car.” It is still an absolute blast to drive on twisty back roads, and at autocross, etc... and that makes it a sports car!
Agree. It isn’t that simple. I just needed a target for my comparison, and I hate the Genesis Coupe, not because it’s a BAD car (it’s a different kind of car; more of a muscle car than a handler) but because idiots always say “YOU CAN GET A GENESIS FOR THE SAME PRICE AND IT IS BETTER THAN THE TOYOBARU IN EVERY SINGLE…
I don’t disagree with you :P
But you don’t understand that it isn’t that simple. The can’t just give it 50% more power without doing anything else to the car. They aren’t complete idiots.
Sure, you or I can buy a forced-induction kit, slap it on and call it a day, but an OEM sure as hell won’t do that. They have to honor a powertrain warranty for…
I’m not being salty. I wouldn’t say no to more power. I’m saying you’re an idiot if you discount the car entirely as “not a sports car” simply because it isn’t as fast as a Mustang in a straight line. There are different kinds of sports car, and not all of them revolve around horsepower.
As a BRZ owner myself, I concur.
As a BRZ owner, I will also point out that any manufacturer that tries to make a “sporty” vehicle that has less than six-million HP might as well give up. The “Horsepower Wars” of the past few years (I’m looking at you, Hellcat) have brainwashed 90% of today’s car “enthusiasts” into…
Then disable that feature. These things are amazing.
In case you didn’t see my answer to him, it’s because I bought a tow hook plate relocation kit. It screws into the tow hook mount, allowing me to run a front plate (as required by law here in Illinois) without drilling permanent holes in the front bumper.
Is there a demo video somewhere from which that GIF was made?
It has nothing to do with looks. It has to do with not drilling holes in the bumper to mount the plate, in hopes that one day I’ll live somewhere where a front plate isn’t required at all. It’s offset because that’s where the tow hook point is, to which this tow-hook plate relocation frame attaches, meaning no…
Completely off topic, but I just wanted to share similar photos I took of my car on a slope leading up to some barn doors too :P
I don’t know why everyone hates 3D so much. Maybe the tech in TVs isn’t as good as the tech in the theater? When I go to see a movie like Rogue One, I go and see it in 3D, and it’s great, but I don’t have much experience with home 3D systems so maybe they suck more...
...in which case, we shouldn’t be trying to kill…
VR is very much a thing. The technology just needs to mature slightly more. The ONLY thing keeping me from playing my Gear VR daily is that it’s still a bit uncomfortable to wear, and it’s annoying to have to take my phone out and clean it and plug it in every time.
As soon as prices on the proper, dedicated VR systems…
It says CELICA in giant letters on the side in the very first shot the car is in, lol :P
People like you make people like me hate human beings.
