I think we just need better driver education, rather than dumber cars. Maybe not everyone is supposed to pass their driver’s test!

I considered that the average person is too dumb to even use their signals to begin with, but the benefit to this is it doesn’t really pose a problem if someone doesn’t understand them. Plus, with enough common use, people will likely know what they mean, even if they don’t use them. (For example, every BMW driver…
I honestly think there is lots of room for improvement in terms of vehicle indicators. I’ve often thought that some additional color-coded lights on cars could be useful (avoiding red and blue lights used by emergency vehicles). Using the hazards as an example:
Amber: Standard use meant to call attention to the vehicle…
I have a dumb question. Why do cars always grow? Why can’t they stay the same? I know “people are getting fatter” and such, but that is solved by the various models of car that each manufacturer offers.
Every few years a new “super small” version of a car is introduced, and inevitably, a few years later, it’s huge…
Wow. That’s awful.
I’m only just now seeing this thanks to another randomly late reply...
...all I can say is... fuck that lady.
Well I was looking at a car that only cost $27 grand new, so I wasn’t going to be saving nearly as much, lol (especially since it had only been out for 3 years). Also, the BRZ is... more likely to be abused... so I didn’t want that risk.
Also I just REAAAALLLYYY wanted a new car :P
I’m just wondering if the numbers would be different. The 15k miles figure is people-based. Meaning, the average person drives 15k miles a year. It’s not necessarily tied to the cars themselves (for example, if a household has two cars, do both cars, on average, rack up 15k miles a year?)
I’d be curious to see what the…
I’ve heard the average is more like around 15k, but I’ve seen various numbers.
Yeah, I’ve heard all sorts of averages, though. I’ve heard 12k, 15k, 18k... I’ve heard that the average for mens’ cars is higher than womens’ cars. It would be neat to see a comprehensive breakdown of average annual mileage by age group, sex, etc...
I’m super OCD. I dunno if I could ever buy my primary car used. I could totally do it for a second car, or a track car, or a beater, etc...
Also, I’ve only had one car prior to this one, and it was the ‘98 Outback my parents handed down to me back in 2006, and that one had 286,000 miles, so I really wanted a new car…
I’d be curious to know about average mileage for all cars on the road as well. For example, I have a 2015 Subaru BRZ, but I’m already approaching 40,000 miles. There are lots of people who drive more than me, but there are also a hell of a lot of people who drive much less. I’d be more interested to know at what point…
To be fair, anyone who thinks the “free” shuttle is actually free doesn’t understand how... life... works. The cost of operation obviously has to be recouped at some point along the line...
This is like that dog vs. mountain bike video from earlier, but with way fewer pixels.
I wouldn’t say no to the opportunity to drive any Ferrari, ever. But if I one day had the means to actually purchase and own an exotic vehicle, I would personally rather support a company that is much more “friendly” and less controlling. There are plenty of equally fantastic alternatives that can go toe-to-toe with a…
True. I just hate how they go about things. The entire selling point of their cars is that they are the pinnacle of performance and technology. The “very best” of what a car can do. To not allow the vehicles to be tested against their peers does indeed “protect the brand image” by not allowing their competitors to…
“If you’ve ever left a chocolate bar sitting around...”
LOLWUT.
You’re reading WAY too much into my comparison. I just wanted to make the point that just because you can have a good experience with someone, doesn’t mean they’re overall a very nice person. Ferrari might be super friendly to their buyers, but they tend to be dicks to people outside of that inner circle...
...or…
Lol, that’s only my screen name carried over from my AIM days. I drive a BRZ - so kind of the opposite, lmao.
The point I was making was that just because they are nice to their buyers, doesn’t mean they don’t have a shitty overall attitude. Being overly-protective of your brand is your right, but it’s just plain shitty.
