It’s weird because the books are much more nuanced, mature and clever than the show gives it credit for, but still very schlocky, barely-better-than-mid fantasy despite its fans thinking it’s Great Literature.

Me, torn between an opportunity to further shit on America, but also thinking this dipshit is wrong about a complex geopolitical fantasy show not being popular because lol Game of Thrones was most beloved by an American audience before it dumbed things down.

IIRC I think it was the actor who plays Dijkstra, the totally awesome Graham McTavish. Which reminds me, the one thing that doesn’t suck about the show is the cast.
