Your issue is with the handset manufacturers, who aren't particularly interested in pushing out the newest version of the OS as soon as practical, for any number of reasons.

I think the time to step in was when that second guy got involved. As long it was 1-on-1 and it stopped when one guy got knocked out, I wouldn't have felt any particular compulsion to get involved either.

Some people are confrontational like that. If it would've been a 1-on-1 fight and he got knocked out, that would've been one thing. But it was 2-on-1 and he got kicked in the head repeatedly.
