I'm sure your Civic, being a Civic, has fairly narrow tires, which are helpful in gaining traction and stability. Also, there is a misconception that if you drive an AWD SUV, snow doesn't affect you. This is false.

If you have to drive on the highway, do your lane changes slowly, with two hands on the wheel and at a constant speed. Snow will pile up between lanes and it can catch people off-guard when they suddenly plow into a small pile of snow. Don't panic, just keep control.
