If the car is intelligent enough to weigh the worth of human lives in an instant, I would bet that it would be following all traffic laws 100% perfectly. Therefore, any imminent collision would be the fault of the other party, making their actions incorrect, wrong, and their lives expendable for being criminals.

SpikeFiend - you buy it, and thousands, maybe millions will. People die and the lawsuits pile up, and you end up with the last car that will protect its occupants over others...well, you would except it was totalled. Eventually, no company will insure the cars that prioritize occupants, and no one will build one,

Yea, the big automakers probably love dealers because they are a sink for 100% of their product. I imagine that if Tesla gets large enough, they might even move to a dealer model.

I will choose... the car that isn’t programmed to kill me. Feel free to pick the auto-death unit.

For liability reasons, all autonomous cars will end up programmed to kill its own passengers before anyone else.

My car will be programmed to protect it’s occupants at all costs, because I will explain to it that to do otherwise means a one-way ticket to the crusher.

I’m going to need to inspect this photo at length...

I dunno, I think a Mexican Fiesta would be more authentic than a Detroit Fiesta...

That’s how minivans are born.

But note the weasel words “can accommodate up to.”

It does not make his bike faster. It does not make his bike more efficient. It does not make it look more like a conventional motorcycle.

and make safe cars a huge premium over where they are now.

I agree. Not every car needs a 5+ star safety rating. At this point, there’s no reason to look at safety specs when shopping for new cars because they’re all identical.

Elio always claimed the car will get 84 MPG, though recent ads have used the slimy hedge words “up to” 84 MPG, and as of yet we’ve seen zero proof of any of these numbers.

The steering actually isn’t too bad, but yes the CVT is absolute shit; takes forever to engage from a stop, and you forget about quick overtakes, and in fact anything which requires quick reaction.

I want to give you more stars.

The hump down the middle of most cars (even those that are FWD and don’t need the hump) is due to making a rigid structure.

Yeah, I’m not sure if you can get a radio with buttons AND Bluetooth.

I really don’t like minivan power doors. I get that they could come in handy sometimes but it’s really over complicating something so simple to make it worse in most cases. A lightweight sliding door/fast power-assist seems like a better idea.
