Well, this is now my go-to example of cultural appropriation.

Holy shit the comment section is riled up! To be honest I don’t completely understand the anger, though I suspect it’s uncomfortable confronting this past (again) and is being taken personally despite it clearly being about historical events.

Just thought you could use an opinion that isn’t just parroting the article like it’s gospel. Jeong’s tweets are most certainly racist, even though making racist jokes about white people is an acceptable punching up (which I agree with).

Interesting to see him quoting a fake news organization like that.

Right.

This narrative of “dragging along/out” is shitty because it’s the one conservative news outlets use to draw this picture of investigators grasping at straws desperately hoping to find anything. Just because you are anxious to see results doesn’t mean you should succumb to weak rhetoric.

MOATS. MOATS FOR ALL.

Yeah, this is a pretty easy report. While threatening violence was a pretty obvious choice for reasoning, there were other good contenders.

Sports games as a whole don’t get enough respect in how difficult it is to simulate things that are not only complex situations, both graphically and for the AI, but are also things people watch religiously. It doesn’t surprise me at all that putting the game up next to the real thing feels less satisfying. The

These victims deserve a proper memorial, events like this need to be remembered. This particular church’s history embodies so much of the suffering black people have endured. It deserves to be a permanent marker of progress and change, however slow that seems to happen.

Agreed. The joke is clearly about aligning Trump’s idolization of Putin with a childish crush. The fact that they are both men is just incidental. Overreaching like the author does for this article is a good example of how it can be difficult to defend people who cite “political correctness” as their motivation for

...toddlers are pure, uncorrupted by fake news or homosexuality...

Because that slur is considered one of the greatest hits by racist assholes.

Can we get a follow up article on this one? I’d love to know:

I was well aware of the second sentence, but I agree the piece still reads that general standards of who should wear what are being laid down. Also, I’d say that if the purpose of your second sentence is to clarify the first, you should just rewrite the first sentence. Something that clear probably wouldn’t be catchy

...but it’s also cool seeing some of the best (or at least most persistent) players of a game rewarded with something tangible for their efforts.

They don’t feel it’s a dumb thing to do because they don’t expect any repercussions from anyone reading it. They expect their white coworkers to find it amusing or turn a blind eye. They expect any black person who finds it to be ignored or ridiculed for taking it too seriously. They expect other people of colour to

Not a lot of wisdom here, since it’s incredibly one dimensional and built on a whole lot of assumptions. I’m saying that as a person who believes this technique can be useful, but it’s also clear to me that it’s not a real option for many people.

She probably believes that she should be scared, but views herself as “brave” for confronting these horrid people.

Finally, I’ve found the comment section for videos. I don’t understand why, when I see “recent videos” appear in the main feed, there isn’t a link to the article/comment sections. I have to click through to View All, then find the video again and click through to this page.
