Hey David, sorry for the late reply, I didn't see this notification. Anyway, yes, it works great. I used up all the roxul to create about 10 panels. With thicker furring strips they have a really nice, flat surface. Sound absorption is great as well, it's made a big difference. Thanks for your original article!

I tried this recently but was a total failure. The viscosity of the paint simply lifts the foil of the base of the tray, eventually spitting resulting in strips of aluminium in the paint
I read this as "DYI Aluminum Foil Panty Liners"... damn, that's a crazy hack.
