I don’t think it’s fair or accurate to assess this piece as an unhealthy response to trauma, because everyone reacts differently and the last thing a survivor needs is more shame. Reliving and recreating a trauma experience is extremely common.
Because it had all that baggage behind it the audience had to deal with their biases toward that particular case as well as the other moral quandaries, which either makes it more complex and real or more confused and messy.

I agree. The baby in the first photo looks unhappy! That does not make me go ‘aww’. The second one is cute. Kids of different ages playing together is adorable.
I feel the opposite way about those two photos. I like the kids playing together more. Tells a story. The baby pic says nothing.
