True. I am also an ethnic minority whereas he looks more white. So there are multiple facets and privileges that come into play.

Another bit of advice that I wanted to share: Don't be in a relationship and try to keep it working while you're studying abroad. The chances of it lasting are slim. And the upkeep of it is going to distract you from living in the moment.

DO IT and go abroad now while you can. Trust me, as you get older, your responsibilities and bills will change, and life will just make it harder for you to travel — even before you have children.
