Once all 7 of us took a cab for about $20 to the same beach the boat had an excursion to. We gave the guy a $10 tip and told him to come back get us at 4:30. I lusted after the giant (15-1/2 qt) dutch oven for years. Last year at an outlet they had a clearance sale and I got one with an inconsequential chip in the lid for $180 (they retail for like $700). It might be my favorite thing in the kitchen. It cooks everything beautifully. I don’t have to worry about anyone…

My strawberry huller (which I use in smoothie prep almost every morning) has a pepper-cleaner on the other end. You chop the end off a jalapeno, then you jam this thing in and root around and it takes out all the seeds and membrane stuff. Maybe I use it once a year but I feel so vindicated when I do.

I just got back from my sixth cruise, the first without a balcony, and I really didn’t miss it for a second. The post-port chillout was just as good at a quiet place on an upper deck. And while I get the desire to have your room near the pool deck, the bathrooms were so spectacularly clean on this ship I didn’t need…

The first time I cruised was about 9 years ago on Princess, and the food was fantastic. Second time with them less so, and the other lines were just OK. Actually, Norwegian was not very good at all this month, but I was at minimum buzzed pretty much all the time.
