It boggles my mind that an education system that was developed largely by men specifically for boys, and has changed very little even with the inclusion of women into it, is now commonly dubbed "female friendly" and it's assumed to be somehow discriminatory towards boys. It's the exact system we've used for boys for

how far do young women need to go placate a partner who secretly seethes inside when she shines

Exactly. The disparity between the two groups is shrinking, and that's a huge positive. Unfortunately, many people see the situation as zero-sum, and so when one side succeeds, the other must be doing worse. This is manifestly not the case.

This is where the patriarchy hurts everyone.

God forbid any Emmy winner speak for longer than 12 seconds. Gotta save room for more weird banter, awkward tributes, and semi-pointless Elton John songs.

Haters gonna hate.

Haha, agreed. Here's my confession: I actually liked BB in the beginning but started to really dislike it as it got darker and darker. I stopped watching it. Eek! I think this is the exact opposite feeling of EVERYONE else who has seen it.

In my experience, people who are angry that HSUS and PETA "don't give enough" to dogs and cats in shelters really mean they wish those groups would ONLY work for dogs and cats. People think that money used to print vegan leaflets rather than to feed a cat is a waste and not helping animals because it doesn't do it

A simple Google search would have told you that the Center for Consumer Freedom (who also runs that famous PETA Kills

Since we're talking about horrible things discovered at factory farms, can someone please write about The King Amendment and how it's aiming to make it illegal to document the abuse and horrific conditions in factory farms (and puppy mills and so many other things?)

That look on her face is heartbreaking. People will freaking watch porn condoms or no condoms — I hope common sense rules here.

Yeah, I'm glad she's calling out misogyny, but I wish she'd be a little more self-aware that the way she feels about being mocked for being an "old lady" is probably the way minorities and LGBT people when she and other comedians make non-stop racist and homophobic jokes. Like, its not that hard to make that final

Can we just stop roasting people? Like in general? Maybe I'm just not cut out for the comedy scene or whatever, but the whole concept is just mean spirited. Like, it's one thing to make a quick joke at someone's expense when you're out with your friends and one of them says/does something dumb (assuming that's

When I first read Island of the Blue Dolphins as a kid I remember being like, "SHUT IT DOWN. Literature is done. Someone wrote the best book ever."

— Scott O'Dell, 1960

I just checked, and sitting with my legs at their natural resting place has them at about 10 inches apart (I'm female). However, when I have to sit next to someone on public transportation, I use the muscles in my legs to keep my knees together. And yes, it's more uncomfortable than how I sit when I have unlimited

Aww, don't knock poor Robb Stark for taking up space. He's had so little success with the North, he needs to establish himself somewhere!
