first off, spoilers ahoy man. and also, i was talking about real loss. souls addresses some tragedies through abstractions , sure, but the background story, the loss of an actual human life and dealing with it, really is totally different.

Honestly, I’m not sure that it is gaining power. I realize this may be a hot take interpretation of the data, but it’s entirely possible that this baloney just looks like it’s gaining power because the small band of crazies is really scared, and really energized, about how their world is disappearing.

The force used was completely unnecessary, but a reaction was not unwarranted.

You can’t foster a community by neutering all of them. If you wanna have a base of loyal followers to keep your viewership up, you have to engage with them in order to encourage that kind of commitment. It’s the basis of every human relationship; if it’s strictly a one-way street, it wouldn’t really be a relationship…

A lot of people enjoy watching streams because of the direct communication you have with the one streaming. Its more interactive than watching a lets play alone. A good stream can end up in a discussion or just joking around between the streamer and the chat.

So, live chat works great for smaller streamers, but not so much for large viewer streams - they devolve into trolling and spam. Small viewership streamers will read the chat as it goes along and interact with people. I watch a lot of PJ (TheSuperSNES) and the ‘Poor Life Choices Team’ and they talk to their audience…
