@Lost Girl Ain't That Lonely Yet: Well, J. Crew's stuff won't exactly solve the boring neutral color problem, but they do have a ton of dresses on sale now [bit.ly] and I'd think you could make the jewelry, shoes, and bag go retro/geometric, with a little inspiration. (I realize this errs on the cheap (rather than

@Goldbunny86: Eataly! I'm also trying to make a plan of attack for that place based on when tourists won't be around. 9 am on a Wednesday, maybe. Either that, or tunnel in from under Shake Shack...

@ManofReason: In addition to shoulder strain from carrying 4 gallons of bottled water up 5 flights of stairs in frenzied hurricane prep? Zilch.

@moonkitten: Green tea works wonders for this, but, in all honesty, the only thing that curbed my mindless snacking was cutting out the majority of carbs, starch, and sugar from meals. The only way I can describe the effect was that it was like flipping a switch: I went from craving toast and cookies every 30 minutes

Given the depiction of Grendel and his mother, I'm pretty sure that reading Beowulf makes teenagers wholeheartedly pro-choice.

@ElphabaSkywalker: Not to mention illogical. How does he expect to meet said wife?!

@thebootyfaerie: A friend of mine w/ English and Comp. Sci. majors went on to do an MFA in Creative Writing, an MS in Library Science, and now runs the government docs division of a Tier 1 research institution.

@Angelina Scarangella: In some countries, anything over a certain value and/or marked "gift" incurs customs fees...paid by the recipient. I had wedding gifts arrive this way, and—while I appreciated the thought—I wished the sender had just asked me what would have been easiest.

@SalutLaMiss...: I do, too! There's something hypnotic about it.

@cpjones: Seriously, this is my ideal vacation. But maybe with Devil's Food cake.

@merlinthewitch: The editors used to name them after whatever "food day" it happened to be on the calendar*; i.e., August 20 is National Chocolate Pecan Pie day, so (under the old way) it would've been "Stick a Fork in Chocolate Pecan Pie." I think that's at least 60% accurate.

@Jeenzy: There was a meetup last week, but it would probably take some scrolling to get to, now. Welcome to NYC!

*Barbara Eden not included.

@Madge: I like to think that my approval rating of her (about 10,000%) offsets that of at least a few Republicans. And I challenge anyone not to look at pictures of the First Family and feel at least a tiny flutter of recognition and affection.

@Angelina Scarangella: I would just like to say that I live in NYC and do not party...and would probably bite anyone who tried to make me. (Three people and wine and cheese are my version of a big ol' party.) It doesn't have to be a social city—there's lots to explore on your own. But I know what you mean. Sometimes

@badluckgirl: I'd argue that Peter Matthiessen's The Snow Leopard is the original Eat, Pray, Love.* All comparisons aside, though, I recommend it highly. Anything by Paul Theroux is also good. Also: Rebecca West's Black Lamb and Grey Falcon.
