A corporation had a disagreement with a private citizen over “intellectual property” and sent armed goons to his house to intimidate him. U-S-A! U-S-A!
“no one with any sense actually believes this anymore”
“Guns are never leaving American hands, because there are individual Americans that do not trust their government or their peers.”
Because all those pea shooters they have at home are going to protect them from the military if it ever knocks on their door.
That idiot literally blamed every damn thing except guns this morning. In fact, he essentially babied the poor defenseless guns. **** off.
After spending $10 on a self-fix kit off Amazon and botching the fix (due to a JC component, not a piece of the kit), I just bit the bullet and went to GameStop and got a used one. And I sure as shit got the $5 insurance since it covers everything. The staffer literally said all I’d hafta do is come in, say it broke,…
Like unrestricted open air on top of the dresser in their air-conditioned college dorm? Conversely, mine did some time in crap entertainment centers with poor circulation* and didn’t die. It was a roll of the dice. Congrats, you got a good one, just like I did. End of story.
Aw man, the RRoD: that thing was so luck of the draw. I knew people that went through 360's like water, meanwhile I had a first-run 360 (the first run systems came with a DVD remote, that’s how I knew) that didn’t fail after years of hard use until the power supply started to overheat habitually.
But yeah, same exact…
Yeah, Joshua’s article seemed to be leaving out some key issues. Most glaringly was the outsized effect of the modern corporate structure and executive compensation.
I may just be cynical, but I don’t think it’ll solve the problem. It has been definitively proven people will buy season passes, pay for micro-transactions, etc. All of those things make these companies money. They’re not going to just stop doing them unless legislated to stop (which carries its own hazards and…
As a Developer with ten years under his belt, I can only say that yes: I’m burned out. Yes: the industry needs to change. Yes: A big part of my own depression comes from having to work on micro-transaction-fueled games that always make me feel a little dirty; but also that I disagree with the main thesis. The industry…
took the words right out of my soul. The model for modern gaming,(much like everything in america) is predatory. Unfortunately with capitalism being the gospel that it is here everything is morally relative based on how profitable it is.
Arctic is burning. Amazon is being cut down at an incredible rate. Hurricanes are dropping more water as the climate changes. Unplanned Medical services can financial cripple a large chunk of Americans. Wages haven’t gone up in years. And I got an headache.
I’m a little (no wait... EXTREMELY) bummed that this isn’t a proper console/PC release. Those platforms absolutely need something like this. Journey, is as you said, a 7-year-old game now.
I really hope this still comes to other devices, such as consoles. I might tinker with it on my phone, but I’d much rather pay $15 to have a full experience that I can enjoy on a large screen. I like thatgamecompany enough that I would pay $20 for a solid port with no further transactions.
Ya same wavelength. I did NOT realize this was going to be a mobile game. ThatGameCompany is so much better than this. I guess we’ve all got to make a living but... bummer man.
Oof. I absolutely adore Journey and Flower, they were two of my favorite experiences on my PS3. But going from that to a mobile game, and one with microtransactions? Free to Start? Geez. ThatGameCompany might’ve found the extremely specific formula to get me to sit out their next project.
“A paid app game experience would have suited them and their narrative so much better.”
Yeah, I’m going to hold out and see if they ever release this on console without the microtransactions, or wait another seven years for them to put out something else. I can’t imagine getting as engrossed in this if it’s asking me to give it money.
this is supposed to come to pc too still, right? i wish it just had a “buy the game” option where i never see a micro-transaction screen)
